II. PROJECT BACKGROUND Education is the responsibility of state, public sector, private sector and individual due to it is the basic human rights, and it is a key success of making better life of our nation. The awareness of this importance matter urged STAPA CENTER (Social Transformation and Public Awareness Center) and PT. H.M. Sampoerna Tbk to give high priority in the field of education by collaborating in conducting “External Scholarship Program Pasuruan 2008” as one of our social responsibilities through “Student Achievement Competition PT. H.M. Sampoerna Tbk Pasuruan 2008”. III. OBJECTIVES 1. To motivate students to reach better and qualified academic achievement. 2. To promote academic and skill quality of student performance progress. 3. To make friendship and to strengthen cooperation among students in the competition. 4. To select talented and skilled students as duta of Pasuruan in Province and National level. 5. To develop academic potency and competency students. 6. To make link and match, educational institution and industry. 7. To facilitate educators, students and society to be more familiar with book by giving equipment of critical education medium in the form of book. IV. EXPECTED RESULTS 1. Selected 6 winners from each kind of competition. 2. To increase students’ motivation in academic. 3. To increase academic and skill quality of student performances. 4. VII. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITIES A. Opening Ceremony It will be held on 18 November 2008 attended by 1.288 students SD/MI, SMP/MTs, SMA/MA/SMK and 400 invitations including local governmental officials, local education department, teachers, religious and society leaders. B. Skill Olympic 1. Sains Olympic This competition will be held for 2 days and participated by 148 groups of SD/MI, SMP/MTs, SMA/MA/SMK. Each group consists of 3 students. 2. Speech Contest a. English Speech Contest This activity will be held for 1 day and participated by 98 students SD/MI and SMP/MTs.

b. Arabic Speech Contest This activity will be held for 1 day and participated by 100 students SMP/MTs and SMA/MA/SMK. 3. Science Writing Competition This activity will be held for 1 day and participated by 100 students of SMP/MTs, SMA/MA/SMK. 4. Islamic Kids Speech Contest This activity will be held for 1 day and participated by 48 students of SD/MI. 5. Calligraphy This activity will be held for 1 day and participated by 100 students of SMP/MTs, SMA/MA/SMK. 6. Students Competency Contest a. English Debate Contest This activity will be held for 1 day and participated by 32 groups of SMA/MA/SMK. The contest will use Australian Parliamentary System (APS). b. Automotive Competency This activity will be held for 1 day and participated 24 students of SMK. 7. News Wallpaper 3 dimensions This activity will be held for 1 day and participated 32 groups of SMA/MA/SMK. The participants will use Styrofoam 100x120 cm provided by the committee. 8. School Blog Design This activity will be held for 1 day and participated 50 students of SMA/MA/SMK. 9. Presenter This activity will be held for 1 day and participated 50 students of SMA/MA/SMK. 10. Drawing Poster This activity will be held for 1 day and participated 50 students of SMA/MA/SMK. C. Closing Ceremony It will be held on 20 November 2008 attended by 174 winners (winner, runner up, runner up 2, runner up 3, runner up, 4 runner up, and runner up 5) of the competition and 350 invitations including local governmental officials, local education department, teachers, religious and society leaders. All the winners will be announced and awarded in the end of ceremony. D. Book Fair This activity aims to position book as science leader and will be filled with attractive activity such as book hunting, writing clinic, book discussion and band performance to make visitors interested. It will be held for 3 days involving national publisher industries. E. Outbond Management Training (OMT) This activity will be held for 2 days and participated by 87 winners 1, 2 and 3 of the competition, 54 teachers and 15 committees. VIII. BUDGET All activities will be funded by PT. H.M. Sampoerna Tbk IDR 440.966.500,00 (four hundreds forty millions nine hundreds sixty six thousands five hundreds rupiahs).
