Title of Lesson: Divisibility Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills/Standards: Knowledge and skills Objective/Purpose: “(1) Mathematical process standards. The student uses mathematical processes to acquire and demonstrate mathematical understanding. The student is expected to:” “use a problem-solving model that incorporates analyzing given information, formulating a plan or strategy, determining a solution, justifying the solution, and evaluating the problem-solving process and the reasonableness of the solution.” “select tools, including real objects, manipulatives, paper and pencil, and technology as appropriate, and techniques, including mental math, estimation, and number sense as appropriate, to solve problems”

Introduce Lesson: The students have been working on division for a while already and are very familiar. You can start to introduce the divisibility rules. Example: 1-if you have whole number 2-if the last digit is 0,2,4,6,8 3-if the sum of the digits is a multiple of 3 4-if the number formed by the last 2 digits is a multiple of 4 5-if the last digit is 0 or 5 6-if it is divisible by 2 or 3 7-if double the last digit subtracted from the number formed by the rest of the digits is 0 or a multiple of 7 8- if the number formed by the last 3 digits is a multiple of 8 9- if the sum of the digits is a multiple of 9 10- if the last digit is 0

Lesson: (Since I am subbing in your class, instruct me on how you would like the concepts taught, what concepts would you want me to stress, and provide me a worksheet? Or am I having the students work on computer stations and if so provide a site that you wish for me to direct them --- and the assessment tool I will be using. )

You can start asking random division questions to get their brain working. Division with 2 digits since we will be doing the worksheets with two digits. This includes the same rules that you emphasized in. Divisibility-Game.pdf There is also a worksheet that can be used if they are not behaving. divisibility practice double digits.pdf Re-Teach: (how would you re-teach this lesson if the student did not understand it) I would go over the three main rules that students learned, rules 2,5,and 10. Then I will continue with the next rules going over other examples and then playing the game again but now using all the rules.
