Principles of Design how the elements are organized
balance emphasis contrast movement repetition pattern
Balance - arrangement of elements to create
a feeling of stability (symmetrical: same on both sides, asymmetrical: similar but not exactly the same)
Emphasis - elements used to create visual dominance or a focal point.
Contrast - a difference between elements to create a more dynamic composition (light/dark, warm/cool, big small, empty/full)
contrast of colors
contrast of textures
Movement - combing elements to direct the
viewers eye or create the look of action (visual movement)
Repetition - combining elements again and again to create a visual rhythm or beat
Pattern - structural repetition, combining elements in an organized and repeated manner
