Ecosystem An ecosystem is a natural unit consisting of all plants, animals and micro-organisms (biotic factors) in an area functioning together with all of the non-living physical (abiotic) factors of the environment

Components of ecosystem • The biotic factors. • The Abiotic factors.

The biotic factor • The biotic factors are the living things , that affect the survival of other organisms in that ecosystem. Eg. Producers, consumers, decomposers, etc. • It depends upon abiotic factor .

The Abiotic factors. • The biotic factors are those non living things that affect the abundance and distribution of animals and plants in an ecosystem. Eg. Soil composition, temperature , solar energy ,etc.

Organisation within an ecosystem • The whole earth's surface can be described as a series of interconnected ecosystems .It is not only individuals within a species that interact with each other. Different species of animals interact with each other all the time. For instance, animals eat other animals through their interactions in a food web. But plants are included in this web as well as they, too, are eaten by animals. And the other factor that affect their interaction is the landscape as well as the weather because it should be suitable for animals , plants and bacteria to survive.Hence, an ecosystem is a geographical area of a variable size where plants, animals, the landscape and the climate all interact together and affect one another.
