Practice Problems With Solutions: Chemistry SUMMET 2009 I only have 3 practice problems, reason being is that all other questions are either:
Conceptual (ie. what’s an ion? What is an acid? Is sulfur a metal?) From your homework, either copied directly or copied directly with a number changed.
I highly recommend you do these problems, as they are VERY similar to test questions. Answers are attached, I will use TWO method in solving some of these, method 1 will always be the same method used in class, method 2 is short cut method. 1. a. Convert 51.2 grams of Caesium Hydroxide (CsOH) into kilograms and moles b. If I put CsOH into 0.029 m3 of water, what is the molarity assuming no volume change? c. If this amount of CsOH can neutralize 0.035 m3 of HCl, what is the molarity of the HCl? 2. In lab you have 13.4 mL of unknown molarity of KOH and 0.26M Nitric Acid (HNO3). You are placing the acid in the burett and the base in the beaker. a. What is the pH of the solution before titrating (in the beaker)? i. General area: pH = 7, pH less than 7, pH more than 7? b. What is the molarity of KOH if you used 31.2 mL of the acid? 3. [*important question*] Find the concentration of all components when 8.9 grams of H2CO3 is dissociated in 0.34 kilograms, assuming density is still 1g/mL. ka1= 2.5 x 10 ‐4 ka2= 5.61 x 10 ‐11
