Review of Related Literature According to Merriam Webster’s dictionary, the art or science of designing and creating buildings is called architecture, and the way you think or understand about something is called perception. Architecture is a passion, a vocation, a calling – as well as a science and a business. It has been described as a social art and also an artful science. Architecture must be of the highest quality of design. (Brennan, 2016) Seeing the different buildings and infrastructures that are pleasant in the eyes of people makes them to think “The architect of this building is good.” In the study of Mckay (2018) an Architect designs the structures such as houses, apartment complexes, shopping centers, office buildings, and factories. In addition to considering their physical appearance, they also make sure these structures will be functional, safe, economical, and suit the needs of the people who will use them. Architects are not focused in the appearance of the building, but rather they also consider the strength and/or durability of it. In addition of Craven (2017) A licensed architect is the only designer who can rightfully be called "an architect." As a professional, the architect is ethically bound by codes of conduct and should be trusted to abide by all rules and regulations associated with a building project. Throughout their careers, architects participate in continuing education and professional development, similar to medical doctors and licensed attorneys.

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) is a program that attracts students from around the world, the PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) in STEM Education offers students individually tailored programs that meet their research and leadership goals. Students are immersed in research throughout their studies and have opportunities to work with scientists, engineers and mathematicians (The Ohio State University, 2019). Students are mostly known because of engineering but taking the STEM strand under the academic track, we were able to find a little connection between calculating the amount of loads and understanding what the shear diagrams mean, knowing the equality of the material used in buildings. (Newman, 2014). Sometimes people ought to themselves, “Why is the tower of Pisa leaning and hasn’t fallen down? It can be proven by mathematics with a little bit of science because Architects also take gravity into consideration when designing a building to make it more functional, economical and must suit the needs of the people who use them without neglecting its artistic and aesthetic aspects. Kadiri (2017) also stated that Architecture is a combination of applying both art and science to conceptualize and build a living space. Yes, it is considered as a part of STEM. You cannot design a space without designing the structure - which needs engineering. The curriculum includes basic and some advanced concepts of structural and mechanical design. Based on STEM Career Lab (2013) every one of us can talk at the buildings or even things we are looking at with math and science. Study architecture and a good college curriculum will prepare you for anything. Accredited programs of architecture will center on practicing design and building things. If it doesn't, you'll be throwing away

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City your money if you want to be a professional architect. (White, 2014) Architecture in the end becomes applied STEM with a bit of art in it.
According to Craven (2018) as an architecture student, you will study a broad range of subjects, including writing, design, graphics, computer applications, mathematics, physics, structural systems, and building and materials construction. The best schools are not necessarily the schools with the best equipment and facilities but they employ the best teachers. And the best teachers of architecture are not necessarily the most famous architects in the world. The best teachers will teach these subjects without you even knowing how much you're learning. Architecture is the application of many subjects.
Perception of architecture is organized thematically into three parts. The first, “Architecture, a Brief History,” History has much to tell and remind us of valuable lessons. This casts a wide historical net, examining architecture from its shadowy beginnings (the tomb, the stone and the tree) to its (dematerialized) present state. The purpose here is to interrogate the profession: what is the architect’s role and how has it changed? What questions and challenges are faced by architects in the design process? What is the architect’s responsibility vis-a-vis the larger public sphere? This first of three parts will foreground the role that urban and spatial organization play in the construction of social practices, human subjectivities and political awareness. The second part, “Concepts and Representations,” will shift the focus from the architect to the building by examining key elements of architectural

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City design: the drawing, space, construction and the plan. It has to do with the structure, materials, purpose, context and function of a building. Architects create the overall look of buildings and other structures, but the design of a building involves far more than its appearance. The goal here is to develop in students a more intimate sense of the way that architects conceive, develop and translate ideas into built form. The third part, “Architecture in the Expanded Field,” takes its title from Rosalind Krauss’ pivotal essay on the land art sculpture movement in the 1970s. Krauss argued that sculptors had effaced all identifying markers of their discipline to the extent that their work could only be determined by a series of negative propositions. This final part of the course seeks to interrogate the outer edges of architectural theory and practice, allowing us to reflect on the nature of architectural expertise and on the horizons and the limits of design thinking. (Ghoche, White and Dixit, 2018 ver. 1.0) According to Huang, Babar and Mirakhorli (2014) it says that the experiences using the understanding about personas in the classroom. And it shows that the personas in the classroom help students to analyzed and prioritize the significant requirements in architecture. In Nigeria their Architecture is to test the perception of students in designing studio before they enter school for evaluating the students for effective learning. (Alagbe and Aderonmu, 2017) In the Sushant School of Art and Architecture it changes the perception of students by explaining the structures properly; it leaves knowledge to the mind of students towards structures as a discipline. (Ansal University, 2018)

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City Architecture is a part of our culture and it has been called the mother of all arts. (Nettles, 2018) It is a discipline that combines artistic beauty, scientific and mathematical precision to design buildings for the people and their environment. It is certainly part of how we see ourselves, and part of how we see the world. The unique aspect of architecture is that in its physical incarnation of buildings that may last for hundreds and hundreds of years.
Statement of the Problem Architecture has a very broad definition and very one has their own perception about something. The study’s goal is to gather reliable data about what are the perception (ideas, expectations, benefits) of STEM students in Republic Central Colleges (RCC) about architecture. The following questions will be answered in conducting the study; 1.What are the programs that RCC offer to STEM students that will help them in taking architecture? 2.For STEM students who will take architecture, what are the expected or possible outcome in taking architecture? 3.What makes STEM students keep motivated in taking architecture?
Scope and Limitation The Researchers will be conducting a study about the perception of students who took STEM in Republic Central Colleges (RCC) about architecture. This

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City study is suited only to those students that will take architecture as their course in college. In terms of the respondents, the researchers will have five (5) in no particular gender and grade level.
Significance of the Study According to Oxfords Dictionary (2018) the significance means “the quality of being worthy of attention; importance.” This study is conducted to get some ideas and perception of STEM students in Republic Central Colleges (RCC) who will take an architecture as a course in college. Perhaps, not only the students are the beneficiaries of this s tudy. The following are also can get some benefits on this study; Students. Their perception on architecture could help them to have more prior knowledge about their future profession. They could have more ideas and quicker learning when they reach studying their profession on mere future. This benefits could make them a better professional on the said field. STEM Teachers. They could adjust their mode of instruction and activities that will match the interest of the students specially those who will take up Architecture. School. In order for the school to know what are the needs of its student. The Community. Also can get some benefits on the study. This could help the students to improve their knowledge about architecture so that they can help their community.

Research Design This study will utilize qualitative research design. In this method the researchers will gather data through interview. This qualitative research needs five (5) informants to answer the questions. According to Qualitative Research Consultants Associations (QRCA, 2O19) the qualitative research is about the range of behavior and the perceptions that arrive to specific topic or issues. This qualitative research will develop and get some new ideas and informations that are needed to fully explore the study. In addition, this study is an undergoing in process of naturalistic inquiry that seeks in-depth understanding of social phenomena within their natural setting. This qualitative research also focuses on “why” rather than the “what” of social phenomena and relies on the direct experiences of human in their daily lives. Materials/ Instruments An interview guide questionnaire will be produced/given by the researchers to gather the data that is needed. The questionnaires are also semistructured so that the researchers are able to ask follow up questions to have a clear and deeper understanding and to fully absorb the details of the informants. In addition, guide questionnaires are mainly focused on the ideas, expectations of students and to know the benefits that they will able to get if they will take architecture.

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City Sampling Techniques and Participants The researchers adopted purposive sampling in this study having a total of five (5) participants who are STEM students in Republic Central Colleges. Purposive sampling or subjective sampling is a sampling technique in which researchers rely on their judgment when choosing members of population to participate in the study (Research Methodology, 2019). The researchers will going to utilize this sampling technique because it is the very effective technique to be used when only limited numbers of people can serve as primary data sources due to the nature of research design and aims and objectives.
Data Gathering The Researchers will choose five (5) respondents that is STEM students in Republic Central Colleges (RCC) who will take architecture which is applicable for the study. With a formal letter will be given to the respondents to ask permission and to know their availability to conduct the one on one interview. During the interview, the researchers will ask questions to gather some data. The interview guide questions are mainly focused on the ideas, expectations, and benefits of architecture. In the moment of interview an audio and video recorder will be set up to verbatim the whole answer of respondents.
9
Republic Central Colleges Angeles City Ethical Consideration Through this study, the researchers will first present a consent to the qualified respondents before conducting the interview. The respondents have their freedom to be unspecified in the research. They could choose whether they prefer or not to keep their personal information (name, age, address etc.) private. They also credited for their participation in the study.
Data Gathering Procedure The researchers will conduct on interview to the respondents, in this way they will get the information or answer that they need for the study. The questions will ask during the interview and the audio and video recorder will be set up to record every details of the respondents. The Researchers will also ask some more questions to satisfy and to fully absorb the answer of informants. In addition, the other researchers also need to observe the gestures, emotions, and the way of speaking to know their sincerity of the informants.
Data Analysis In this study the researchers will use Thematic Analysis. According to Ditte Mortense (2019), Thematic Analysis strives to identify patterns of themes in the interview data. One of the advantages of thematic analysis is that it’s a flexible method which you can use both for explorative studies, where you don’t have a clear idea of what patterns you are searching for, as well as for more deductive

Republic Central Colleges Angeles City studies, where you know exactly what you are interested in. During the first phase in thematic analysis, researchers will start to familiarize with data. In this phase, researchers will go start to interview the students in Republic Central Colleges (RCC) and take note the answer to the questions about the ‘Perception of STEM students who will take Architecture’ and this will be the start to mark preliminary ideas for codes that can describe the content. In phase 2, researchers will assign codes to the data. In phase 3, researchers will start to sort the codes into themes. Researchers will start looking at the list of codes and their associated extracts and then collate the codes into broader themes that say something interesting about the data. During phase 4, researchers will review and refine the themes that identified during phase 3. Researchers will read through all the extracts related to the codes in order to explore if they support the theme, if there are contradictions and to see if themes overlap. During phase 5, they will name and describe each of the themes they identified in the previous steps. In their description of the theme, they will describe what is interesting about the theme and why it’s interesting. In phase 6, researchers will produce their final report. In presenting the themes, they will use quotes of what the participants said to demonstrate their findings.
