Rather, it is a "new" production with English-speaking actors spliced in with the original Japanese footage in varying ratios. Due to the very Japanese nature of many of the Super Sentai Series' stories and design, the American shows are altered to fit a Western audience. However, many of the action sequences featuring the characters in costume and the mecha (referred to as "Zords" in the English series) are typically dubbed. It lasted for three seasons (from 1993 to 1996). The franchise has continued, and as of 2008 has consisted of 16 television seasons, 14 different series, and two theatrical films. The fifteenth season and thirteenth series, Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive, debuted on February 26, 2007,[1] and completed on November 12, 2007. The newest series, Power Rangers: Jungle Fury, debuted on February 18, 2008, and completed its run on November 3, 2008. The Power Rangers series was distributed by Saban Entertainment from 1993 until the end of 2001 and was broadcast on Fox until the fall of 2002. The franchise was purchased by the Walt Disney Company as a part of the buyout that took place between 2001 and 2002.[2] This resulted in Fox Family Worldwide becoming ABC Family Worldwide.[2] This buyout also included Saban Entertainment becoming BVS Entertainment, from News Corporation, Fox's parent company, and Haim Saban.[2] The show continued to air on Fox until its Fox Kids package was renamed the "FoxBox" in the United States. Since September 2002, all Power Rangers shows have aired on various Disney-owned networks (ABC Kids, Toon Disney and Jetix channels worldwide). ABC Family, another Disney-owned network, also used to air Power Rangers until it did away with its Jetix timeslot after August 31, 2006. Several ABC affiliate broadcasting groups, most notably Hearst-Argyle Television and Allbritton have declined to air most of the Power Rangers series aired since 2005 on ABC Kids, due to the lack of FCC-compliant educational and informational content in the programs. [edit] Summary [edit] The Power Rangers A Power Ranger is a fictional individual who "Morphs" from an unpowered form into a powerful superhero usually wearing a brightly colored battle suit usually made of spandex featuring a helmet with an opaque visor.[3] In many cases, the helmet serves to protect his or her secret identity. (In some cases, more powerful Rangers may have extra shielding on their suit to protect them from strong blows.) A morphed Ranger generally possesses superhuman strength, durability, and hand-to-hand combat ability; unmorphed Rangers may possess other innate abilities such as telekinesis,[4] super speed,[5], and invisibility[6] that are usually not directly related to his or her Ranger powers. Rangers appear to retain their original physiology beneath their suits when in morphed form, as Rangers' helmets have been seen removed or broken on numerous occasions[7], revealing his or her natural form underneath.[8] Helmets aside, the suits are donned and removed nearly instantaneously with a glow of light or some other effect. Sometimes, Rangers "de-morph" involuntarily due to powerful physical attacks.

Rangers regularly operate in teams of five, with a special sixth Ranger frequently joining the team part way into the series.[9] More recently a core team of three will later be joined by additional Rangers. Each Ranger's suit and energy spectrum will match a specific color, with red, yellow, and blue being joined by some combination of pink, green, black, or white. Rangers may be named after their respective colors, such as Red Ranger, Blue Ranger, etc., but numbers or other names may also be used. There is usually no more than one Ranger of a given color on a team, but exceptions of this rule are generally given alternate names (in Time Force, there were two Rangers with red-colored costumes; the first was the Red Time Force Ranger, the second was the Quantum Ranger). Each team's costumes are nearly identical aside from color and helmet design (most notably the shape of the opaque visor) and perhaps a numerical designation. Any additional Rangers will regularly have additional costume modifications, usually some form of additional armor. The Rangers' color designation influences their wardrobe throughout the series, as their civilian clothing is often the same color as their Ranger color. This correlation was joked about in Dino Thunder when Tommy Oliver (a former Green Ranger, White Ranger, and twice a Red Ranger) became the new Black Dino Ranger; he said that he had to go shopping because he did not own enough black-colored clothing. [edit] Elements of a Power Rangers season Each team of Power Rangers, with a few exceptions, obey a general set of conventions, outlined at the beginning of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and implied, though not stated explicitly, throughout many of the other incarnations. These include the Power Rangers being forbidden to use their Ranger powers for personal gain and or for escalating a fight, explaining why the Rangers do not simply crush the small monsters by means of their Megazord. The Power Rangers are also forbidden to disclose their identities to the general public, barring extenuating circumstances, although this rule was disregarded in Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, Power Rangers: S.P.D. and Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive, in which they were public servants (rescue squad, police officers, etc.) Following a Spartacus-inspired scene by Angel Grove's townspeople, this rule was also disregarded at the conclusion of Power Rangers in Space and, to a lesser extent, Power Rangers: Mystic Force. The penalty for disobeying these rules, at least in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, would be the loss of their power. The arsenal available to the Power Rangers is also somewhat standardized: each Ranger is generally armed with a weapon such as a laser gun and/or a sword. Each Ranger also has a secondary set of weapons that can often combine to form a larger weapon (usually a cannon). As the series progresses, one or more of the Rangers are also usually given a motorcycle for longdistance travel, as well as individual Zords. In many series, a Ranger is also given additional Zords or weapons. In some cases, one Ranger may receive something that other Rangers may not have; an example of this is the Battlizer given to the Red Ranger of each series since Power Rangers in Space. Although much of the arsenal can also be found in Super Sentai, there are usually at least some that are not, generally added for the express purpose of marketing toys designed and sold by Bandai America. Power Rangers series regularly have villains of their own make which do not appear in the Sentai footage, though for budget and footage reasons there are always carry-overs from the Japanese source material. Less commonly, some series use only the Sentai designs and footage, though despite this some sets have to be replicated for original footage if needed. There was also one instance when to maintain the trend of the Sixth Ranger for a series where only five existed in the source footage, the Titanium Ranger was created especially for Lightspeed Rescue. In seasons following Power Rangers in Space, it became common for each team to be part of a separate storyline from those of previous incarnations. In later seasons, it became a tradition for two teams of Power Rangers to team up to take on a villain. In Power Rangers: Wild Force, the

tenth incarnation of Power Rangers, this is taken to the next level, as ten Red Rangers teamed up in the episode "Forever Red", and in Power Rangers: Operation Overdrive a team of former rangers from various incarnations of the series teamed up with the Overdrive Rangers to defeat an alliance formed by the son of Rita & Lord Zedd, Thrax, in the episode Once a Ranger. The only seasons thus far to not feature such a team-up are Power Rangers: Ninja Storm, due to a shift back to non-SAG talent when production was moved to New Zealand,Power Rangers: Mystic Force, due to a relatively short series length, and Power Rangers: Jungle Fury. This was somewhat rectified when Xander, the Green Mystic Force Ranger, and Tori, the Blue Ninja Storm Ranger, appeared in the Operation Overdrive crossover two-parter, "Once A Ranger". It is traditional that the arsenal of a Ranger team, especially the Zords, be destroyed at the end of the season in order to destroy the final monster, which is often the main villain. The Rangers also tend to give up their powers, though they remain available for later team-ups (For instance, at the end of Ninja Storm, the Rangers sacrificed their powers to imprison Lothor. Once Lothor was freed, however, they were able to get their powers back in order to fight him). [γ] Ninja Storm has the Crimson and Navy Rangers that wear suits of darker hues of Red and Blue, respectively. [δ] SPD includes nine additional rangers, a final count of fourteen rangers, which is the most in all of the Power Rangers franchise history. Both the Omega Ranger (who wears a White suit) and the Shadow Ranger (who wears a primarily Black suit) are regular characters, whereas the Kat Ranger (who wears a primarily Orange suit) and the Nova Ranger (who wears a Silver suit) are only seen for one episode each. The S.P.D. A-Squad wear the same colors as the main team. [ε] Mystic Force has two allies who do not fall under the basic color schemes. The Solaris Knight wears gold armor over navy blue spandex and the Wolf Warrior wears dark red armor. [ζ] Jungle Fury has the Violet Wolf Ranger who wears a violet suit. [edit] Spin-off Main article: Masked Rider (TV series) Masked Rider is an American adaptation of the tokusatsu series Kamen Rider BLACK RX, one of the many series of the popular Kamen Rider Series. It was produced by Saban and aired in 1995. It was a spin-off of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.

The main title character of Masked Rider was featured on a three-part Mighty Morphin Power Rangers episode (A Friend in Need) before his own series was started. The Rangers themselves were never mentioned in the television run of Masked Rider, however, as Saban reformatted the series to sever links with Power Rangers, given that their popularity had been gradually beginning to slide following the first films. However, the Rangers were featured in the home video release of the Masked Rider story Super Gold, in the form of narrated clips from A Friend in Need, and also made a guest appearance in Masked Rider's short-lived comic book adaptation. [edit] Motion pictures Teaser poster for Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie. The Power Rangers series have also brought forth two theatrical films, which were distributed by 20th Century Fox. As of 2007, Fox's home entertainment division, long after Fox's parent company News Corporation and Haim Saban sold Fox Family (currently ABC Family), including Saban Entertainment and the Power Rangers franchise, to the Walt Disney Company, still maintains worldwide home entertainment rights to these two Power Rangers films. * Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie, 1995 * Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie, 1997 [edit] Stage show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers World Tour Live on Stage was the name of the stage show that toured during the second season of the TV show. It featured all the characters on the TV show at around the same time as The Wedding. This stage show was also similar to the Super Sentai stage shows that are held every year when a current series being broadcast in Japan, and are held at Tokyo Dome along with other shows featuring Toei Superheroes. [edit] Power Morphicon The Power Morphicon was the first Power Rangers Convention that took place in 2007, celebrating fifteen years on the air at the time, from 1993. Some of the guests that attended were Austin St. John, who portrayed Jason Lee Scott; Steve Cardenas, who portrayed Rocky DeSantos; Walter Jones, who portrayed Zack Taylor; Johnny Yong Bosch, who portrayed Adam Park; Paul Schrier and Jason Narvy, who portrayed Bulk and Skull; Daniel Southworth, who portrayed Eric Myers; Emma Lahana, who portrayed Kira Ford; Matt Austin, who portrayed Bridge Carson; Richard Brancatisano, who portrayed Xander Bly; James Maclurcan, who portrayed Mackenzie Hartford; and Samuell Benta, who portrayed Will Aston. Some of the panels included were "Forever Red," where Red Rangers St. John, Cardenas, Southworth, and Maclurcan were interviewed; "Unsung Heroes," where Jones, Bosch, Schrier, Narvy, Austin, Brancatisano, and Benta were interviewed; "Where Are They Now," where St. John, Cardenas, Bosch, Narvy, and Tony Oliver were interviewed; "Bulk and Skull," where Schrier and Narvy were interviewed; and "Origins of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (often abbreviated by fans as MMPR) is an American live-action television series, created for the American market, based on the 16th installment of the Japanese Super Sentai franchise, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger. The show and its related merchandise both saw unbridled overnight success, catapulting into pop culture in mere months. Under the original name Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, the series ran from 1993 to 1995 and spawned a feature film, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie.

The second and third seasons drew on footage and elements from the Super Sentai series Gosei Sentai Dairanger and Ninja Sentai Kakuranger respectively, though the Zyuranger costumes were still used extensively; the main five Dairanger suits were never used at all, as only the Kiba Ranger suit was used for the White Power Ranger, while the five Kakuranger suits were used in the mini series Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers. The series was produced by MMPR Productions and distributed by Saban Entertainment, and aired on Fox Kids. In 1996, the Mighty Morphin label was retired as the series would follow in the footsteps of Super Sentai, changing its name, cast and plot every year; thus the Power Rangers franchise was born. Power Rangers still runs in this format to this day, though currently the majority of post-MMPR series are not spin-offs in the traditional sense. The series takes place in the fictional town of Angel Grove, California. Two unwitting astronauts discover an extraterrestrial container (referred to as a dumpster as a result of its stench), and breach the unit inadvertently releasing the evil witch, Rita Repulsa, from 10,000 years of confinement. Upon her release, she and her army of evil Space Aliens set their sights on conquering the nearest planet: Earth. When the wise sage Zordon becomes aware of the release of the evil witch he was responsible for capturing so long ago, he orders his robotic assistant, Alpha 5, to find five "teenagers with attitude," to defend the Earth from Rita's attacks. The five socially diverse teens chosen are Jason Lee Scott, Kimberly Hart, Zack Taylor, Trini Kwan and Billy Cranston. Zordon gives the five teens the ability to morph into Power Rangers, including an arsenal of weapons at their disposal as well as large robotic machines called Zords, which can combine into the Megazord. The series begins with five teenagers combating Rita Repulsa and her seemingly endless array of monsters, however, consecutive failures lead Rita to adopt a new method for conquering Earth and destroying the Power Rangers: by attacking them with one of their own. In possession of a special Green Ranger power, Rita kidnaps and brainwashes a local teen whose fighting skills prove to equal that of Jason's in a martial arts contest held in Angel Grove. The new teen, Tommy Oliver, passes Rita's tests, becoming the Green Ranger during the five-part story arc "Green with Evil." Eventually, the Green Ranger is overcome, and the Sword of Darkness, the new source for the continuance of the evil spell he has fallen victim to, is destroyed by Jason. As a result, Tommy will use the Powers he's left with to defeat the evil that

gave them to him in the first place. His Zord, the Dragonzord, retains the power to join with the other Ranger's Dinozords to form more powerful Zord combinations, including the Mega Dragonzord. Along the way, Billy works on improving his self-confidence while Tommy begins to court Kimberly, both sharing a great amount of screen time. Trini works to raise environmental awareness, Zack continues to pursue love interest Angela, while Jason continues to improve his skills. The entire team regularly makes efforts to contribute to their community outside of being Power Rangers, spending much of their personal time dedicated to volunteering and helping the community. As time goes on, discontent with regularly being defeated with the aide of the Green Ranger powers she believes are hers, Rita focuses her plans on eliminating Tommy and regaining the powers. Utilizing a special wax touched by Tommy when he was evil, Rita uses a green candle (in a story arc under the same title) to sever Tommy's link to the Morphing Grid and slowly remove his powers, returning them to her. Because Tommy's proximity to the candle accelerates its melting process, Jason enters the Dark Dimension where the candle is guarded by Goldar to retrieve it. Unfortunately, Rita unleashes a monster attack in Angel Grove that keeps Jason and his friends from retrieving the candle. In the end, Tommy loses his powers, however, he is able to prevent Rita from reclaiming it by transferring the remains to another Ranger who can operate them based on their own link to the Morphing Grid. Tommy chooses Jason who, feeling guilt for failing to protect Tommy's powers, accepts them. The White Power Ranger. The five Rangers continue to protect Earth from the ongoing threat of Rita Repulsa, with Jason wielding the Green Ranger powers in conjunction with his own Red Ranger powers. In a story arc seeing the kidnap of the parents of all the students at Angel Grove High School, including that of the five Ranger teens, the Rangers are forced to give up their five Power Coins in trade for their parents' safety. In an act of subterfuge, Goldar accepts the coins and keeps the captive parents. To make matters worse, Rita brainwashes Billy into stealing the Dragon Dagger and giving it to Goldar who unleashes the Dragonzord upon a town that no longer has the protection of the Power Rangers. With no powers of their own to use, Jason reveals that he is still in possession of the Dragon Coin. Tommy returns, agreeing to take part in a dangerous process in which Zordon transfers energy from himself into the Dragon Coin, allowing it to temporarily enable Tommy to morph into the Green Ranger once more. He steals back the coins and dagger, seemingly at the cost of his own life, having been electrocuted by a force-field protecting both sets of items. The Rangers regain their powers and fight for the safety of their parents, to no avail. In a turn of events, Tommy is resurrected; it is revealed that he'd been energized by the power of the force-field that electrocuted him. He once again uses his powers to save the day, but they are only temporary and can be re-generated only for a short time by Zordon who continues to use his own energy to supplement Tommy's failing ones, making no attempts to hide the fact that the Green Ranger's powers will ultimately fail. With every battle that occurs from here on, Tommy is left to decide whether or not he will get involved and waste away the last of his powers. Following multiple defeats, Rita's fortress is invaded by her superior, Lord Zedd. Disgusted with her failure, he takes over, discarding Rita back into space within another Space Dumpster, then launches his own campaign against the Power Rangers, this time focusing on turning living things into monsters in order to waver the Ranger's ability to destroy them. As Zedd focuses his attacks on the Green Ranger powers that continue to waste away with every battle he engages in, the other Rangers see an upgrade to their Zords; they are transformed into mythical

beasts known as the Thunderzords, also able to form a brand new, more powerful Zord combination; the Thunder Megazord. Eventually, Tommy loses his Green Ranger powers for good, and leaves the group for a time. Soon after however, Zordon and Alpha choose Tommy to become the new White Ranger. Later, Jason, Zack and Trini are selected to attend a World Peace Conference in Switzerland and they are forced to leave the team. Their powers are then transferred onto three replacements chosen by Zordon; Rocky DeSantos, Adam Park and Aisha Campbell. Rita later returns and ingratiates herself by slipping Zedd a love potion. Unhappy with the return of the evil witch who had mistreated him and forced him into servitude, Goldar makes several attempts to turn Zedd against Rita to get rid of her once and for all. However, after Goldar discovers that Rita gave Zedd a love potion, he is dismayed to find that even after he bullies Finster into administering an antidote, Zedd truly loves her anyway. Rito Revolto, Rita's skeletal brother, later comes to Earth and, with the help from a group of monsters, manages to destroy the Rangers' Thunderzords. Consequently, the original Dinozords are destroyed too and the Power Coins are damaged beyond repair. Undaunted, they seek the aid of Ninjor, alleged creator of the Power Coins, who gives them new Ninja Coins and the Ninjazords. The six Mighty Morphin Ninja Rangers. Later, an Australian girl named Katherine Hillard moves to Angel Grove. She befriends Kimberly, and displays an intense affection for Tommy. Later it is found that Rita had captured Katherine and put her under a powerful spell. As a result, she steals Kimberly's Crane Coin, vastly weakening the Pink Ranger whose life force, like that of the other Ninja Rangers, is connected to their Ninja Coins. Katherine eventually overcomes the spell, and gives the coin back to Kimberly. Having already been disconnected from the Crane Coin and Zordon's declaration that her time as a Ranger has ended, Kimberly now has a chance to pursue her personal athletic dreams. She leaves to train for the Pan Globals, deciding to entrust the Crane Coin to Katherine, making her the new Pink Ranger. Though her initial fear and hesitation keeps her from contributing fully to the fight against evil, Katherine eventually becomes both more comfortable and capable of fulfilling her duty as a Ranger. After several more battles, Zedd and Rita are joined by Rita's father, Master Vile. Following his failed attempts to defeat the Rangers, he reverses time, destroying the Ninja Coins and eliminating the threat of Ninjor. These events culminate in the miniseries Mighty Morphin Alien Rangers, which leads to the next incarnation of the Power Rangers, titled Power Rangers: Zeo. [edit] Production When brought up on VH1's I Love the 90s, the original cast members interviewed (Amy Jo Johnson, Walter Emanuel Jones) as well as other celebrity commentators, mentioned that the original line-up had Jones' role as the Black Ranger and Thuy Trang's role as the Yellow Ranger as the actors and characters were of African and Asian descent, respectively. The Power Blaster was used by the original team of Rangers extensively, but the second team would replace it with the more powerful Power Cannon. o Power Sword: Red Ranger's weapon, a one-handed sword capable of being energized and used as a directed energy weapon. o Power Axe: Black Ranger's weapon. Can be used as a traditional axe or, by sliding a locking mechanism down the handle, can be used as a powerful energy cannon. The Axe handle acts as the barrel of the cannon. In the episode "On Fins And Needles" it was powerful enough to shoot through the ground and reach the Slippery Shark monster. In the episode "A Different Drum", the Power Axe was called the "Cosmic Cannon". o Power Lance: Blue Ranger's weapon. Could be broken down into two minilances called Mace's. In the episode "A Different Drum", the Power Lance was called the "Mighty Mace". o Power Daggers: Yellow Ranger's weapons. In the episode "A Different Drum", the Power Daggers were called the "Dino Daggers". o Power Bow: Pink Ranger's weapon. In the episode "The Song of Guitardo", after discovering the music-based monster had to be fought with music, Kimberly's Bow sported a succession of strings, allowing it to be used as a harp that fires sonic energy attacks when played, and in the same episode, she fired the Dragon Dagger from it after energizing it with her Bow. In the episode "A Different Drum", the Power Bow was called the "Battle Bow". * Dragon Shield: The golden shield worn by the Green Ranger was often almost impervious to attack, especially when the Green Ranger was playing his Dragon Dagger. Along with the chest shield, the Green Ranger also wore golden arm bands and his gloves and boots featured gold trim. The set of armor, or the individual shield, could also be transferred to other Rangers. As in the case in which Zach, the Black Ranger, was given the Dragon Shield to protect him in the season one episode "Oyster Stew". When Tommy's Green Ranger powers were slowly being drained by the magic of the Green Candle, he transferred his powers over to Jason, and he would be in possession of the Green Ranger powers, including the Dragon Shield, the

accompanying armor, the Dragon Dagger, and the Dragon Power Coin. After regaining his Green Ranger powers, Tommy would once again possess the shield. The shield also would be the most recognizable way to tell the difference between the Japanese footage and American footage, as in Zyuranger footage the shield was made of hard foam or rubber, while in MMPR footage, it was made of shiny polyester. * Dragon Dagger: Green Ranger's weapon. It could be played like a flute by the Green Ranger to either summon the Dragonzord or to activate his Dragon Shield's deflective capacities. It replaced the Blade Blaster in the Green Ranger's arsenal and was stored within a black holster although, in some American-made scenes, the Green Ranger's black holster is replaced by a white one. Tommy had a Blade Blaster when he got his temporary power boost from Zordon in the season one episode "Return Of An Old Friend". This was never explained in the show and is mostly likely a production error. In the season two episode "The Green Dream", the Green Ranger can be seen using an oddly shaped American prop version of the dagger. * Saba: An enchanted, talking sabre brandished by the White Ranger, used to summon and control the Tigerzord. Saba could also fly and emit lasers from his eyes. After the destruction of the Thunderzords, it was reduced to a visual-only item. Saba was voiced by Tony Oliver. * Special Weapons: To defeat Rita's Super Putties, the Rangers needed these powerful blasters that were guarded by Titanus the Carrierzord. * Power Cannon: A giant bazooka that fires loadable spheres of energy, more powerful than the Power Blaster. * Metallic Armor: Special armor created for battling the new-and-improved Tenga Warriors. Enhances the Rangers' speed, strength & resistance to injury or magic spells. * RADBUG: Billy modified a white Volkswagen Beetle that could fly through the air and go from 0 to 3,000 in 2.8 seconds. The RADBUG was used when teleportation in the Command Center was down for whatever reason. * Battle Bikes: The "Battle Bikes" appeared briefly in the season one episode "Calamity Kimberly", though they were never named as such on screen. Apparently, they were motorcycles the Rangers used with the Red Ranger having his own bike, and the Black and Blue Rangers had sidecars for the Yellow and Pink Rangers, respectively (based on the "Road Saurers" from Zyuranger). * Shark Cycles: Shark-themed motorcycles created by the fossilized fin of an ancient shark. They were only used twice during season three. Kat never used the pink Shark Cycle within the storyline. * Ninja Ranger Power: After they gained their new powers from Ninjor, the Rangers had a new power-up where they became ninjas. They wore masks and ninja outfits, and also wore an emblem of their Ninja Animal (similar to the Ninja Coins) on their uniforms (similar to how promotional materials for MMPR showed the Power Coin as a chest emblem). They also gained ninja powers such as super-speed, the use of illusions, and the ability to move underground to evade enemy attack. When turning into this form, the Rangers would hold their hands out, with one hand on top, the other on bottom. With index fingers and thumbs extended, the Rangers would shout, "Ninja Ranger Power, Now!" Lighting would emit from their hands and they would morph into their Ninja Ranger forms. Though this form isn't as strong as their Power

Ranger forms. [edit] Zords Main article: Zords in Mighty Morphin Power Rangers The six Dinozords. [edit] Dinozords The Dinozords were the first Zords that the Power Rangers had access to. It was the 9th season of Power Rangers and the last full season to air on Fox Kids before Disney bought the rights to the franchise and began airing it on Jetix and ABC Kids. Time Force is unusual among the Power Rangers series in that its story was significantly darker than those that came before, and in that it possessed stronger parallels with its Japanese counterpart Timeranger than its predecessors. Like Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue before it and Power Rangers: Wild Force after it, the Rangers are above 21 years of age and are considered adults, not teenagers. This is also the only Power Ranger season so far where the main antagonist actually gives up instead of being destroyed or uncorrupted by force. However, this criminal, Ransik, manages to hijack a prison full of cryonically frozen convicts and escape back to the past in an attempt to change the future, but not before badly injuring Alex, the Red Time Force Ranger. Four Time Force officers attempt to pursue Ransik to the year 2001. They make it to 2001, but end up being stranded in the fictional town of Silver Hills. There, they meet Wesley Collins, who is the son of a rich industrialist and looks identical to Alex. With Wes' help, the four Time Force officers become the Time Force Rangers, helping the city of Silver Hills by capturing the various mutant criminals that Ransik releases from prison. Being somewhat isolated from his father, the Power Rangers are unable to rely on Wes' wealth to get by - instead they operate a business out of the clock tower that the Rangers used as a base, aptly named "Nick of Time Odd Jobs," after an old company that had operated there. It is there that Wes also helps the other four Rangers adapt to life in the 21st century. Wes himself would later move in with them

after his father refused to help him pay a ransom to Nadira, who kidnapped a bus full of school students, and decides to follow his own footsteps. The Time Force officers knew that their presence would inevitably change the future, and indeed, it had: in an attempt to contain the mutant threat, Wes' father creates the Silver Guardians, a security force helping to secure the businesses of anyone who had the money, and a force that had not originally existed. Among one such member was Wes' childhood friend, Eric Myers. Unlike Wes, Eric was not rich, getting by on a scholarship as the two of them attended prep school. When the Silver Guardians make their first attempt at taking care of a mutant, they are overpowered, and Wes is forced to save them, revealing his identity as a Power Ranger in the process. When Mr. Collins offers Wes to join his guardian team, he refuses, believing that he is only helping people out for the money (as he quoted: "People are getting hurt, all because you want more money" and "Time Force Rangers help everyone, not just those who can afford it"). The Silver Guardians, led by Eric, the Quantum Time Force Ranger, continued to hold a tenuous relationship with the Power Rangers. As for the villains, Ransik would eventually surrender peacefully when he nearly kills his own daughter, Nadira, who was trying to protect an infant. Before, the Time Force officers return to the year 3000, Jen and Wes finally admit that they love each other. Mr. Collins makes another offer for Wes to join the Silver Guardians, saying that they will now help everyone free of charge. Wes accepts and wants Eric to become his coleader. This series also featured the cameo return of characters from Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue, when the demoness Vypra rises from the grave. When she teams up with Ransik and unleashes a Super Demon named Quargenon, the Time Force Rangers are forced to team up with their Lightspeed Rescue predecessors. [edit] Characters [edit] The Time Force Rangers The Time Force Rangers and the Quantum Ranger Main article: Time Force Power Rangers Wesley "Wes" Collins The main character and later the leader of Red Time Force Ranger in the year 2001; he is actually the ancestor of Alex, the Red Ranger in the year 3000. He was needed to activate the Chrono Morphers for the other Time Force Power Rangers because of the DNA match, but he later did assist the Power Rangers, despite his privileged upbringing. Both he and Alex were portrayed by Jason Faunt. Jennifer "Jen" Scotts The second main character and the Pink Time Force Ranger; the leader of the Time Force Power Rangers, made cold-hearted because of the apparent death of her fiancée Alex (the former Red Ranger) in the year 3000. She was portrayed by Erin Cahill. Lucas Kendall The Blue Time Force Ranger; a race car driver in the year 3000 and womanizer in any year. He was portrayed by Michael Copon. Trip The Green Time Force Ranger; a Xybrian alien, noted by his green hair and jewel in his forehead, the latter of which amplifies his psychic powers. He was portrayed by Kevin Kleinberg. Katie Walker The Yellow Time Force Ranger; she was imbued with enhanced strength due to

genetic engineering. She was portrayed by Deborah Estelle Phillips. Alex The original Red Time Force Ranger from the year 3000, who was killed in the first episode by Ransik. Later on during the series due to a timeline shift Alex was found to still be alive. He is a genetic descendant of Wesley Collins. Eric Myers The Quantum Ranger; leader of the Silver Guardians, a group funded by Wes's father to combat the Mutants set free by Ransik. He was portrayed by Daniel Southworth. [edit] Allies * Circuit: A small blue mechanical owl which acts as an information source (like Alpha 5) and calls Captain Logan to send the Zords when needed. (Voiced by Brianne Siddall) * Captain Logan: Time Force commanding officer. (Played by Roy Werner) * Mr. A. Collins: Wes' father and millionaire businessman, who set up the silver guardians which were led by Eric until he decided to stay in the clock tower (the rangers base) with the other rangers (Portrayed by Edward Laurence Albert) o Note: Whilst Mr. Collins' first initial was established as 'A', his first name was never officially stated in the show's continuity. * Philips: The Collins family butler, always ready to give Wes helpful advice (Portrayed by Douglas Fisher). * Dr. Michael Zaskin: A Biolab scientist that works for Collins. (Portrayed by Ken Merckx) * Lightspeed Rescue Power Rangers: The previous Ranger team, they join forces with the Time Force Rangers to stop Vypra and a Super Demon. * Wild Force Power Rangers: The succeeding Ranger team that the Time Force Rangers meet and team up with in 2002 (a year after the events of Time Force takes place) to stop a trio of Mutant-Org hybrids. * Alex: Initially thought dead after "Force From the Future", he barely survived and after he recovered began working from behind the scenes to help. Apparently he is very high ranked in Time Force as the Captain referred to him as sir and saluted him. He sent the Time Shadow many times and activated Eric's Mega Battle Armor all without revealing his true identity. His true identity wasn't revealed until he traveled through time himself at the end of "Dawn of Destiny" because the future was getting thrown too far off track. He took command of the team from Wes after telling him to become head of Biolab as his father would die the next day, and led the team in an attack on the super powerful robot Dragontron. He was very bitter and cold during this time, refusing to accept any suggestions beyond his own and even treating Jen badly, but in the end he returned control of the team to Wes. He ended up healing Mr. Collins while Wes destroyed Dragontron with the Time Force Megazord. He returned to the future and later sent Wes the Strata Cycle. He later told the Rangers they had to return to the future or be killed in a massive upcoming attack. When they returned he revealed that Wes died when he saved the city, and prepared to wipe their memories of the past. The Rangers chose to go back and after Jen returned his engagement ring he told them to take the Time Force Megazord as it had the best chance of making it. (Portrayed by Jason Faunt.) * Silver Guardians: A private security force funded by Wes' father and later led by Eric that protected Silver Hills from Ransik's mutants. They hold a tenuous relationship with the Time Force Rangers. At the end of the series, Wes becomes coleader of the Silver Guardians with Eric. [edit] Villains

Ransik (portrayed by Vernon Wells) Nadira (portrayed by Kate Sheldon) Frax (voiced by Eddie Frierson) Gluto (voiced by Neil Kaplan) Vypra Doomtron

* Enemy Foot Soldiers o Cyclobots [edit] Arsenal * Chrono Morphers: Created by Time Force and usually used by select officers such as Alex and the Time Force Rangers. The Chrono Morphers can display holographic images and imprint the DNA of the wearer so that only the person in question, or someone with similar DNA, can use them to morph by calling "Time for, Time Force!". These morphers are unique in the respect that if one was inactive, the others were as well. Initially only the Red Ranger's Chrono Morpher was active, but upon being separated from its previous owner Alex, it needed to be reactivated in order for the Chrono Morphers Jen, Lucas, Katie and Trip acquired to imprint their DNA. * Quantum Morpher: Eric Myers uses this device to morph into the Quantum Ranger by crying out "Quantum Power!", and it also controls his Quantasaurus Rex Zord. The Quantum Morpher's distinct Voice Activation feature allows Eric, or someone that sounds like him, to operate it. Eric deactivates this feature after being badly injured then gives the Morpher to Wes figuring that it may give Wes some more help. Wes uses it later to summon the Quantum Defender and to control the Q-Rex to destroy Doomtron * Time Force Badge: Each Ranger wears his or her own badge, thus identifying them as law enforcers to criminals. The badge can also seal an apprehended criminal in a cryo-containment unit. * Chrono Sabers: Each Ranger carries two Chrono Sabers, which can also double as a lance. In battle, the Chrono Sabers can fire energy projectiles and are used to deliver a Time Strike. The Rangers can also spin around like a tornado and strike an opponent. * Electro Booster: Trip created this unique blaster to help the team overpower an energy-absorbing mutant. It is formed through adding a series of attachments onto a Chrono Saber. Self-destructed by Wes in the Battle of the Clocktower to destroy the Clocktower and the army invading it. * Chrono Blaster: The standard Time Force firearm. * Quantum Defender: The Quantum Ranger's personal firearm can change into a sword. Can deliver the freeze strike mode where it charges with blue energy and slashes the enemy two times. Used by Wes to give the Q-Rex more power to destroy Doomtron in the final battle. * Vortex Blaster: This powerful cannon, forged from the five V Weapons, delivers a powerful blast capable of either freezing or knocking out targets. o V Weapons: Giant cannons used by the five core Rangers, each branded V1 to V5. They can easily destroy a target but are usually set to stun. * Battle Warrior Armor: A black knight once bested a white knight and claimed for himself a box that could be opened only by those with a pure heart. The black knight eventually appeared in Silver Hills and left the box in a cave, to be guarded by a dragon. Wes found the cave and defeated the dragon before opening the box to receive the magical Battle Fire, which gave him access to the Battle Warrior Armor. In addition to body, helmet and boot armor, Wes is armed with a giant sword which

ignites its target in a blaze. * Mega Battle Armor: The Quantum Ranger's own Battlizer Armor, granted to him by Alex from the year 3000. The Mega Battle Armor places a visor over Eric's helmet and gives him torso shielding, roller-blades, detachable wings that serve as blasters and blades, and a large energy blade that is capable of "freezing" giant criminals. * Vector Cycles: Motorcycles from the future, assigned to each of the five core Rangers for ground pursuit. * Strata Cycle: A sleek vehicle sent by Alex to aid Wes. It has flight capabilities and awesome firepower. * TF Eagle: Quantum Ranger's personal transport, capable of travelling through time. * Time Jet: A glider-like aircraft that carries the Rangers to their Time Fliers. It can fire from front-mounted blasters and transform into an over-sized handgun. In its handgun mode, it is often used by the Time Force Megazord Mode Blue. # Frog Ninjazord, controlled by Adam as the Black RangerPower Rangers: Ninja Storm (often abbreviated as PRNS and often simply called Ninja Storm) is an incarnation of the Power Rangers franchise, based on the Super Sentai series Ninpuu Sentai Hurricaneger. This is the first season to be filmed in New Zealand and also the second season to be under the BVS copyright. This series is unique in the fact that it was the first to feature only one female Ranger serving on the team (although the 10-episode mini-series Alien Rangers featured only one female Ranger) and was the first season to begin the series with three rangers instead of five like the previous seasons as well as correctly delegating the yellow ranger role compared to Saban. This was the first series to air on the American Broadcasting Company in its entirety. Contents [hide] * 1 Synopsis * 2 Characters o 2.1 Rangers o 2.2 Allies o 2.3 Villains * 3 Arsenal * 4 Zords o 4.1 Power Spheres [edit] Synopsis A skateboarder (Shane Clarke), a surfer (Tori Hanson) and a motocross (Dustin Brooks), are students of the Wind Ninja Academy in the vicinity of Blue Bay Harbor, under the tutelage of Sensei Kanoi Watanabe and his son Cam. Although it seems as if they will never be good enough to be full-fledged ninja, they are the only three left when the evil ninja master, Lothor arrives on Earth and captures all the other students. Their sensei, who was transformed into a guinea pig by Lothor, decided that they would become Wind Power Rangers and gave them Wind Morphers to allow them to transform. As the Wind Rangers, they fought to save the world from Lothor and his space minions, using Zords created by Cam for emergencies. Over time, they were joined by the Thunder Rangers, Hunter and Blake, as well as Cam, who gained Green Samurai powers in a trip to the past. The show marked a turning point for the franchise with a willingness to make fun of itself and its history (a theme that would return in "Dino Thunder"). Of special note is

that Lothor, instead of the standard melodramatic evil emperor, had a sense of humor and often got lines that sent up the show, by breaking the fourth wall. In the first episode he comments on the fact that he now has opposition. "Power Rangers? No one told me there would be Power Rangers!" After making a monster grow, he seems to turn to the camera and say, "What'd you expect? It wasn't going to get smaller." In Pork Chopped, after being sent to an area used by Japanese footage, Shane states, "Not another rock quarry!" In the final episode, when piloting a robot against the Zords, he yells, "This is the most fun I've had all season!" Eventually, the Rangers managed to defeat all of Lothor's minions, unwittingly overloading the Abyss of Evil (to which they were all sent upon their demise). The Wind Rangers were able to stop evil from spreading across the Earth, and sealed Lothor away in the Abyss of Evil... along with their own powers. Now powerless, Shane, Tori and Dustin became teachers at the rebuilt Wind Ninja Academy, aided by Cam and a newly human Sensei. Hunter took a job as the sensei at the Thunder Ninja Academy while his brother Blake continued his racing career. She currently wields the power of water. She was portrayed by Sally Martin. Waldo "Dustin" Brooks The co-protagonist and the Yellow Wind Ranger; a motocross biker, he was one of the three Wind Ninja students of his class to survive Lothor's attack. He wields the power of earth. He was portrayed by Glenn McMillan. Hunter Bradley The Crimson Thunder Ranger; a motocross biker, he and his brother Blake were the only Thunder Ninja students to survive Lothor's attack. They were originally brainwashed by Lothor into thinking the Wind Ninjas were their enemies. He wields the power of thunder. He was portrayed by Adam Tuominen. Blake Bradley The Navy Thunder Ranger; a motocross biker, he and his brother Hunter were the only Thunder Ninja students to survive Lothor's attack. They were originally brainwashed by Lothor into thinking the Wind Ninjas were their enemies. He wields the power of thunder. He was portrayed by Jorgito Vargas, Jr. Cameron "Cam" Watanabe The Green Samurai Ranger; the son of Kanoi Watanabe, head of the Wind Ninja Academy. He originally was behind the scenes of the Ninja Storm operations, until going back in time and retrieving his mother's heirloom that allowed him to morph. He wields power of the samurai. He was portrayed by Jason Chan. [edit] Allies * Sensei Kanoi Watanabe: the sensei of the Wind Ninja Academy, turned into a

guinea pig by Lothor. At the end of the series, he is transformed back into a human (played and voiced by Grant McFarland). * Cyber Cam: A "virtual replicant" of Cam created to monitor things at base when the real Cam is out in the field on Ranger missions. He has a widely different personality than the real Cam and acts like a rapper, wearing skull caps, speaking in urban vernacular (for example, he called Tori as 'Babelicious!'), excelling in adventure sports like skateboarding, surfing, motorbikes, etc. In short, Cyber Cam excelled in all those skills that Cam did not. * Kelly: The owner of "Storm Chargers", the store where the Rangers hang out, while not on duty. Kelly is a good friend with all six Rangers. (played by Megan Nicol) * Dino Thunder Power Rangers [edit] Villains Main article: Villains in Power Rangers: Ninja Storm * Lothor: the evil ninja master who was once Kiya Watanabe, the brother of Sensei Watanabe (also played by Grant McFarland) * Marah and Kapri: Lothor's nieces, two idotic troublemakers. In the final episodes, Lothor tries to eliminate them, so they turn on him and at the series' end, they join the Ninja Academy. (Played by Katrina Devine and Katrina Browne respectively) * Zurgane: the main general of Lothor's army. (Voiced by Peter Rowley) * Choobo: the lieutenant, promoted general. (Voiced by Bruce Hopkins) * Vexacus: a renegade bounty hunter. (Voiced by Michael Hurst) * Motodrone: Once fused with a human named Perry, Motodrone was rebuilt and reprogrammed under Lothor's command. (Voiced by Craig Parker) * Shimazu: the incarnation of a Japanese legend. (Voiced by Jeremy Birchall) * Enemy Foot Soldiers: o Kelzaks o Kelzak Furies [edit] Arsenal * Wind Morphers: These wrist-mounted devices each contain a Power Disc which, upon calling out "Ninja Storm, Ranger Form!", requires a simple spin to allow the Wind Rangers to morph. The Wind Morphers can also fire laser beams. * Thunder Morphers: Modelled after a Rhino and Stag Beetle respectively, these belong to the Thunder Rangers. The Power Discs used to power these morphers are hidden and accessed via the push of a button. The Thunder Ranger duo cry out "Thunder Storm, Ranger Form!" before morphing. (Note: The Thunder Morphers used by Hunter and Blake resemble somewhat of an altered Beetle Bonder from the show, Big Bad Beetleborgs.) * Samurai Cyclone Morpher: When needed, the Green Samurai Ranger's morphing device materializes from the Samurai Amulet he wears around his neck, after which he calls "Samurai Storm, Ranger Form!" to access his Ranger powers. * Lightning Morpher: The Red Wind Ranger's Wind Morpher transforms into this device when he calls for it, which allows him to activate his Battlizer Armor. The Battlizer Armor was destroyed by Lothor in the finale. * Ninja Sword: Standard Wind Ranger weapon. The swords are later upgraded with stronger blades to allow greater attack power. * Laser Blaster: A rifle that the Wind Rangers can use simply by sheathing their Ninja Swords and pulling the sword's handle downward. * Thunder Staff: The standard Thunder Ranger weapon can become the Thunder Shield or Tornado Star throwing weapon, as well as extend to a full-length staff. * Thunderstorm Cannon: The combination of the Wind Rangers' Storm Striker and

the Thunder Rangers' Thunder Blaster. According to Super Sentai continuity, the Thunderstorm Cannon can Combine with the Z-Rex Blaster (from Power Rangers: Dino Thunder). This combination would more than likely be called the Z-Rex Thunderstorm. o Storm Striker: A cannon formed by combining the Wind Rangers' weapons. Its finishing attack varies depending on which of the three weapons was placed in front. + Hawk Blaster: Red Wind Ranger's personal weapon. When the trigger is pressed, a powerful turbine revs up to allow powerful shots. + Lion Hammer: Yellow Wind Ranger's personal weapon, capable of causing tremors when it strikes the ground. + Sonic Fin: Blue Wind Ranger's personal weapon, able to use sound waves to lift the enemy off their feet, or make them cringe in pain. o Thunder Blaster: Blaster formed by combining the Navy Antler and Crimson Blaster. + Crimson Blaster: Crimson Thunder Ranger's rapid-fire blaster. + Navy Antler: Navy Thunder Ranger's personal weapon can electrify targets upon catching them, and can also be attached to a Thunder Staff. * Samurai Saber: The Green Samurai Ranger's weapon can amplify his voice as well as remotely access Ninja Ops. * Lightning Riff Blaster: Guitar-based weapon that summons the Mighty Mammoth Zord. Initially used by the Green Samurai Ranger and later by other Rangers. * Thunder Blade: A special weapon given to Blake by his Thunder Academy Sensei. He spent time training with it under the guidance of a Thunder Academy graduate before revealing it in battle. * Ninja Gliders: Aerial transports for the Wind Rangers, summoned by pressing their belt buckles. * Ninja Glider Cycle: The Crimson Thunder Ranger's personal transport is the result of his powers being imprinted into a motorcycle, which appears to be a combination of his Tsunami Cycle and Ninja Glider. * Tsunami Cycles: Sleek motorcycles initially used by the Wind Rangers. The Thunder Rangers eventually receive their own Tsunami Cycles as well, created from stolen blueprints. * Dragonforce Vehicle: The Green Ranger's personal transport is powered by the Gem of Lost Souls. It can switch between a flame-spewing Serpent Mode or a compact mode armed with powerful drills. * Mobile Command Center: An 18-Wheeler truck that houses the Tsunami Cycles. **The term "Hurricane Morpher" was used in the show once in the first episode where the Battlizer was first used, and was never called that again, it was simply referred to as the Battlizer in the series. The "Hurricane Morpher" was known as The "Lightning Morpher" which was the name given to the toy released by Bandai in the U.S. [edit] Zords Main article: Zords in Power Rangers: Ninja Storm The Ninja Storm Rangers's Zords: Hawk, Dolphin, Lion, Insect, Beetle, and Samurai Star The Zords in Power Rangers: Ninja Storm were mechanical animals piloted by the Wind and Thunder Rangers.
