Philippines is a catholic country. Being gay is not really accepted in our community but nowadays almost a little of our population here in our country consider themselves ‘gay’ or ‘lesbian’. Because of what other countries treat the homosexuals in their land, homosexuals here in the Philippines feel like they are also entitled to be treated and to fight for their rights to be equal with others. The issue of legalizing same sex marriage I can say is one of the biggest issue we have today, knowing that everyone has different opinion on this issue that might be helpful or not to the lgbt community. The questions now is, “is it okay to legalize same sex marriage here in the Philippines”. It seems that their community is getting larger and stronger and I can see nothing is wrong is supporting the rights of the gay people.

The legalization of Same sex marriage in the Philippines can be based these arguments: first, we have our freedom of choice. Like normal people can choose someone who will they love, so as the LGBT people should be able to choose the person they want to spend their life with no matter what their sex is, it is our right. Second, marriage is something that is beneficial. Accepting and letting them know that we take them will make them feel equally the same with us. They can also benefit through helping in adopting and sharing their love for the foster childrens in the foster homes. And lastly, in our era today, there are evidences that same sex marriages and even same sex relationships are capable of lasting longer than the heterosexual people. With all of these, same sex marriage should be legally available in the Philippines

To conclude, judging someone for doing something like being homosexual is not going to change them on how they view themselves, it will just make them stronger. If there are more Filipinos who will be more openminded and will be willing to hear out every homosexual or the gay community in the country, legalizing it can be easier. Many think they were born gay and nothing is wrong with them being interested in their same sex, but again, it is against the norms so people are discriminated and disrespected. As a country, we should do what we think can help our community in the long run. People think that marriage is an opportunity but in reality it is our right. It’s our right to choose someone who we think can make our lives happy. Having the right to marry should not be up to anyone to dictate or have an opinion on.
