Mike Pompeo Files Papers for Congressional Campaign and Announces Leadership and Launch Team (Wichita, KS) - Wichita businessman and Republican leader Mike Pompeo has officially filed papers with the Federal Election Commission enabling him to begin raising funds for a campaign to represent the people of Kansas’ Fourth Congressional District. The incumbent Congressman, Todd Tiahrt, has declared his intention to run for the U.S. Senate. “Like other Kansans, I believe our federal government has lost its way.” Pompeo said. “We need a leader who will stand and fight against an administration that is promoting central planning and a larger government at the expense of future generations. I am prepared to do just that. And, as a pro-life Republican, I will fight to ensure that none of the three branches of government infringe on our Constitutional rights.” A lifelong Republican, Pompeo is President of Sentry International, an independent business engaged in the manufacture and sale of oilfield and industrial equipment. Pompeo also was a founding partner in Thayer Aerospace, one of the five largest aviation subcontractors in South Central Kansas. While this is Pompeo’s first run for public office, he is no stranger to public service. After graduating first in his class from the United States Military Academy at West Point, Pompeo served in the United States Army as an armor officer patrolling along the Iron Curtain. Pompeo has also been active in South Central Kansas serving as a Sunday school teacher, a deacon in his church, as a trustee for the Flint Hills Public Policy Institute, and as a volunteer board member of the Orpheum Theater, the YMCA and other charitable institutions. The campaign also announced its initial leadership team with four co-chairs each of whom has been a longtime community leader -- businessman Fred Berry, community and civic leader Gayle Malone, and businessmen David L. Murfin and Nestor Weigand, Jr. The Pompeo campaign also announced that its treasurer is A. Scott Ritchie III. In addition, a broad range of Pompeo supporters from across the district have agreed to serve as the campaign’s Launch Team. The Pompeo Launch Team consists of: Linda & Roy Baker Wichita

Supporting him in his announcement are Pompeo’s wife Susan and son Nick who are excited about the campaign. “I have wonderful family support which gives me the confidence to pursue this endeavor. I’ve also spent several months speaking to citizens and business owners across Kansas who have encouraged me to run.” he said. “I intend to demonstrate to the voters of the Fourth Congressional District that I am the right leader in these challenging times. I believe we will be successful in taking Kansas common sense and business experience to Washington.” Pompeo noted that this week’s filing was in compliance with legal requirements and a first step in announcing that his campaign is moving forward and that a formal announcement of his candidacy would be forthcoming.
