TYPES OF ENVIRONMENT POLLUTION

Air Pollution Water Pollution Noise Pollution Soil Pollution Solid Pollution

AIR POLLUTION • Revolution of the 19th centuries however, air

   

pollution became a major problem. The air that we breathe contains many impurities like dust, smoke, harmful gases and other particulars, which are very harmful for all living beings. Causes of air pollution :Dust gets raised by strong winds, movement of vehicles, sweeping of floors and roads etc cause air pollution. Smoke of powerhouses, factories and vehicles. Cigarette smoking. Sneezing and coughing.

WATER POLLUTION • The pollution of rivers and streams

with chemical contaminants has become one of the most critical environmental problems of the 20th century. • Sewage, industrial wastes, and agricultural chemicals such as fertilizers and pesticides are the main causes of water pollution.

INDUSTRIAL WATER POLLUTION • Industrial pollutants that run into streams, rivers, or lakes can have serious effects on wildlife, plants, and humans.

NOISE POLLUTION • Unwanted sound, or noise, such as that produced •

by airplanes, traffic, or industrial machinery, is considered a form of pollution It can cause hearing loss, stress, high blood pressure, sleep loss, distraction, and lost productivity.

SOIL POLLUTION • Soil is a mixture of mineral, plant, and animal

materials that forms during a long process that may take thousands of years. It is necessary for most plant growth and is essential for all agricultural production. Soil pollution is a buildup of toxic chemical compounds, salts, pathogens (disease-causing organisms), or radioactive materials that can affect plant and animal life.

SOLID POLLUTION • Solid wastes are unwanted solid materials such as garbage, paper, plastics and other synthetic materials, metals, and wood • Moreover, waste from developed countries typically contains a high percentage of synthetic materials that take longer to decompose than the primarily biodegradable waste materials of developing countries.

INDUSTRIAL WATER POLLUTION • Industrial pollutants that run in streams, rivers, or

lakes can have serious effects on wildlife, plants, and humans. The major water pollutants are chemical, biological, or physical materials that degrade water quality. Pollutants can be classed into eight categories, each of which presents its own set of hazards. Petroleum products Pesticides and herbicides Heavy metals
