“WHAT IS JSF?”
FAMILY OF AFFORDABLE MULTIMISSION FIGHTER AIRCRAFT USING MATURED 21ST CENTURY TECHNOLOGY
Fiscal Year 1995 legislation merged the Advanced Short Take-off and Vertical Landing (ASTOVL) program with the JSF Program. This action drew the United Kingdom (UK) Royal Navy into the program. Main competitors for the contract to develop JSF were Boeing and Lockheed Martin. Finally Lockheed Martin was awarded the contract. As we all know that Lockheed Martin is also building F-22s for us and the role of JSF-35 will be to compliment F-22.
“WHY DO WE NEED JSF?”
LEGACY AIRCRAFTS (F-16s, A-10s) OLD AND TIRED
TOO EXPENSIVE TO MAINTAIN AND OPERATE
DO NOT MEET THE WARFIGHTER REQUIREMENTS POST 2010
