TRUST IN TAB Utilize Campus Operations for Student Initiative: to Unify, Bridge and Re-engage Student Body A) Ensure that the design and use of newly acquired space in the UCC best supports an enhanced undergraduate student experience. i. Ensure that clubs and associations have priority over the Spoke for events. ii. Create a Dance Studio in the UCC iii. Better utilize operations such as the Wave and the Spoke to promote initiatives. For example, servers could attach rave cards with meal receipts, branded drink coasters to promote voting, and putting advertising in all USC services and operations iv. Touch screen USC Kiosks to keep students in touch with USC and community events v. Ensure that operations are accessible to students with physical disabilities B) The USC should review where it can increase revenue in operations, while evaluating how the revenues of these operations should fund the USC and its programs and services in a more sustainable way.

Student Outreach Lower Student Costs a. A continued commitment to the 10% reduction in USC’s margin at the Used book store b. Discounts for club executives for club related supplies

c. Seeking sponsorship for discounts of products that students require (cell phones, cable, internet package) Reinforce, develop and promote programs that further enhance awareness of alcohol abuse, drug abuse, sexual assault. The USC should encourage services such as WIN and PrideWestern to further investigate what sexuality information they can provide, as resources, to students and community members – and consider partnership with community organizations Campus Safety: Review with London police safety at western. Ie. Emergency polls, campus police access and lighting.

Building the Best Student Community USC strongly advocate for Clubs and Associations: Membership retention and exposure and also ensuring the educational experience for students by allowing them the opportunity to be more interrelated through job placements, philanthropic organizations and community outreach a. VOLUNTEER DATABASE: Creating a link on USC website for database of volunteer opportunities available through western’s clubs and associations b. DISCOUNTS FOR CLUBS: Offer in-house discounts to club executives and members at our operations for club-related ventures, and partner with the Western Administration to allow clubs to book more spaces on campus (classrooms, etc.) at no cost in support of enhancing Canada’s best student experience. c. DEDICATED CLUB SPACE: Working with club executives and the over 19,000 students involved in the clubs system to make a USC guarantee to ensure our newly acquired space is for students in the club system, for programming, charity, and speaker series. d. INSTITUTIONALIZE: the “Affiliate Caucus”: ensure that it meets frequently e. EXAM BANK: Working collaboratively with Senator’s, particularly Faculty Senator’s and Faculty Presidents, to request Deans support on developing a comprehensive exam bank. Currently, the Exam Bank at InPrint is out of date, renewing this as a USC priority, will enhance “The educational experience”, as per the USC mandate. f. CONTINUE TO BUILD RELATIONSHIPS BETWEEN THE USC AND THE LONDON COMMUNITY: Support more community building projects in near campus neighbourhoods in order to enhance our profile and meet mutual needs of students and long-term community members. Goal: feel less transient in the City i. Actively be involved with London chamber of commerce for internship development to keep students present in the summer

ii. Looking to initiatives, such as what Queen’s has. Queen’s innovation park and Ked Co to develop employment opportunities. iii. Volunteer page as well as a “What is going on in your community” link iv. Stronger Promotion and opportunity of service learning projects e. ENHANCE SCHOOL SPIRIT: Further support clubs and associations which aim at promoting Western spirit. I.e. Western Mustang Band, UWO Cheerleaders

A Greener Campus Recycling Program Creating a No Capital cost public space recycling program at Western provided by a Canadian based company that currently operates the world’s largest public space recycling program. This would be a revenue generating opportunity for the USC to help fund other green initiatives on campus. a. Program is offered at no capital cost and has been proven to divert recycles form landfills recognized by the RCO b. Units have the potential to beautify grounds and act as a means of advertisement for USC/Clubs/Events c. Expanding the green fund to allow for faculties to apply for money to support green initiatives and increasing research regarding waste audit of UCC d. Composting program e. Subsidized drinks if travel mug is used f. Eco-friendly vendors in the UCC

Accountability a. Public disclosure of VP, Communications Officer and

President attendance record, at Board of Director’s, Council and committee’s. b. Utilization of plebiscites on key student issues, particularly on seeking out public opinion on contracts and student services – ie. LTC contract-consulting students through plebiscite. c. Student Union: Establish a non-partisan adjudicator to ensure that appointed and elected positions to USC, the Gazette and Soph teams are transparent and fair

Advocacy Create Awareness Weeks: a) Utilize resources and create awareness weeks that bridge clubs and associations with common goals. The Club’s Commissioner would be liaison of this endeavour. Ie. Gender issues, human rights, environment, arts and sports Divestment:

a) Continue to Support STAND and divestment campaigns that promote ethical business practices. Collaborating with the club strengthens the voice of STAND and its representation.

Guest Speaker Series

a) Create a position on council with a mandate to create a speaker series at Western; modelling after similar initiatives at the Affiliates b) Liaison between affiliates to promote guest speakers from their colleges to main and vice versa
