In the “The Red Wheelbarrow”, Williams uses the enjambment between the four stanzas to break down each object in the poem. This poem contains only four stanzas each of them have four words. Williams chooses to separate each of the components in his poem in each stanza to focus each idea at a time, which would make readers understand his poem easier. For example, in the first stanza “so much depends / upon”, Williams wants this stanza focus only the idea of depending on something. As well as in the second stanza “a red wheel / barrow”, Williams wants to focus only one idea per stanza. For the second stanza, the main focus is on the red wheelbarrow following with “glazed with rain / water” in the third stanza which concentrate on the red wheelbarrow that glazed with rain. Finally in the last stanza “beside the white / chickens”, Williams wants this stanza only illustrates the white chickens. From the explanation above tells that William Carlos Williams decided to divide four objects in his poem into four stanzas for making readers focus more in each idea and understand the poem easier.
