Physiological Assessment Physiological assessment in the catheterization laboratory means first and foremost "fractional flow reserve" (FFR), a method of assessing stenosis severity (which lesion, if any, is causing ischemia) and treatment assessment. Other methods available in the cath lab to further investigate function include collateral fractional flow reserve (FFRcoll), coronary flow reserve (CFR), index of microcirculatory resistance (IMR), absolute flow measurement, temperature measurement, measurement of renal pressure gradients. These physiological measurements, made possible by using a guidewire-mounted pressure sensor, enable performance of functional tests in a number of clinical applications. FFR:
