Back from Duars… (6 Oct – 12 Oct, 2008) We are just back from the North‐east region of West Bengal, the north‐east part of India. The foot of Himalaya, called ‘DUARS’. The beautiful tea gardens in the plains, the lush green forests, serpentine rivers and the sleepy cities, the picturesque villages and the wonderful people… The journey started from Kolkata (Sealdah stn.) by train (‘Kanchankanya express’) which goes through shukna forest and tea gardens from Siliguri stn to Alipurduar in North Bengal. We stayed at Cooch Behar. We covered some parts of two districts: Jalpaiguri and Cooch‐Behar by train, by bus and by hired cars. We also went to Phuntsolling, a small picturesque town in Bhutan, two hours journey from Cooch Behar town.
