Teaching Phonics     

You cant teach the 44 sounds to a small kid or even to a PST who is supposed to teach the primary classes. It is a different phenomena to teach phonic sounds to the small kids. We use 26 basic alphabet sounds in the beginning. Just tell the sounds not the name of the alphabets (ay, bee, see, dee, ee, ef, jee are the names of alphabets) The vowel sounds are introduced with the name of VOWELS and Diphthongs are introduced as DOUBLE VOWELS.

BLENDS When two alphabets are written together and gives double sound, it is called a blend e.g.  Bl ow Cl ap, Fl ed,

BEGINNING & ENDING BLENDS  When two alphabets give double sounds at the beginning are called beginning alphabets e.g. BL eat FL ip CL ean  When two alphabets give double sounds at the end are called ending blend e.g. cl AP ju MP smi TH

DIAGRAPHS  When two alphabets produce single sound, it is described as diagraph e.g. PH one CH air SC ience
