Match or Pencil Holder Spectrum Stained Glass Project Series by Carolyn Kyle ®

This dressy match holder will bring a touch of sophistication to any hearth setting. The tall matches are available at most gift stores and some hardware stores. The project also serves well as a container for dried or artificial flowers. When shortened to a height of four inches, it makes a dandy pen or pencil holder.

CONSTRUCTION 1. See chart above for Spectrum Glass Suggestions. 2. Cut all glass pieces. Wrap all side pieces with 3/16" or 7/32" copper foil. 3. Wrap base piece with 3/8" foil but put more of the foil on the top side than the bottom side. 4. For stylized version, solder the curved lines of side pieces together. 5. Tin the edges on the three sides and base. 6. Place sides on top of base with corners touching. Hold firmly in place with masking tape. Tack solder, then remove tape and solder thoroughly. 7. Run copper wire around mouth of holder, burying in solder as explained in Basic Instructions. 8. Clean, patina if desired.
