Benjamin Steephenson 7th – S.S 4/26/2009 John Jay John Jay was a very special man to all of us through his service to our country. His numerous achievements are amazing and his servitude will be recorded in history forever. John became a lawyer in 1768 and got married in 1774. He became the father of two sons and five daughters. Then, the American Revolution ended his legal career, but began a career in public service. For one year John was the president of the Second Continental Congress. In 1779, John went to Spain on a diplomatic mission. Spain resulted in giving the colonists more weapons. At the end of the war, President Washington appointed John Jay to be the first Chief Justice. John did many important cases. John Jay was a great man. His contributions made this country the way it is. We will greatly miss him forever.
