Dear Mayor, I am pleased to submit my resume for your consideration for Mayor of the City of Newton. I believe that my thirty-two years of Aldermanic service in the City of Newton will be an asset to our city. During these three decades, my dedication to the City of Newton as Chairman of Finance and Alderman at Large has allowed me to gain a complex understanding of municipal financial, legislative and executive operations and functions. During my tenure and due in part to my efforts, the City of Newton is the only city in the Commonwealth and only one of fifteen nationally to maintain an AAA Bond Rating for thirty years. My commitment to public safety has resulted in Newton being recognized as the nation’s safest city on multiple occasions and having one of the few nationally accredited police departments in the state. I further feel that my personal, professional and political achievements are indicative of my appreciation for contemporary issues for citizens, businesses and tax exempt organizations within the City of Newton I was personally involved in the formation, development, operation and financial growth of multiple small businesses in the Commonwealth. Moreover, my unique life experience as a resident taxpayer and parent of three provides a keen perspective into the concerns of young professionals seeking to share in the dream of living and working in Newton. I also understand the need to implement new financial goals and objectives as well as performance management concepts to further streamline and make the operation of the City more transparent and accountable to the taxpayers.
