Immunotec US PATENT U.S. Patent 5,230,902 A method of improving the active systemic humoral immune response in a mammal as measured by sheep red blood cell injection (SRBC), comprising administering orally to the mammal an effective amount of undenatured whey protein concentrate (WPC) obtained from bovine, goat, or sheep milk and containing substantially all the whey protein present in the raw milk, administered as a daily replacement for up to all the protein consumed by the mammal, wherein the improved active systemic humoral immune response is based on the overall amino acid and associated small peptides pattern resulting from the contribution of substantially all the WPC protein components, the daily amount of WPC not substantially exceeding the daily protein requirement for the mammal. The method of claim 1, wherein the improved active systemic humoral immune response is associated with

enhanced resistance of target cells against the mutagenic and carcinogenic effect of dimethlylhydrazine. A method of producing a sustained increase of tissue concentration level of glutathione in a mammal, which comprises orally administering to the mammal an amount of undenatured whey protein concentrate obtained from bovine, goat, or sheep milk and containing substantially all the whey protein present in the raw milk as a daily replacement for up to all the protein consumed by the mammal, wherein the sustained increase of the tissue concentration level of glutathione in the mammal is based on the overall amino acid and associated small peptides pattern resulting from the contribution of substantially all the WPC protein components, the daily amount of WPC not substantially exceeding the daily protein requirement for the mammal.
Patent Number: 5,230,902 Date of Patent: July 27, 1993 ABSTRACTS This invention provides a method of improving the humoral immune response or increasing the concentration levels of glutathione in mammals, which comprises administering orally to a mammal a therapeutically or a prophylactically effective amount of undenatured whey protein concentrate which has a biological activity based on the overall amino acid and associated small peptides pattern resulting from the contribution of all its protein components. A method for improving the humoral immune response in mammals also is disclosed which comprises administering orally to a mammal the combination of a vitamin supplement containing vitamin B2 in an amount in excess of minimum daily requirements and an effective amount of undenatured whey protein concentrate. This invention further provides a dietary supplement for a mammal which comprises an effective amount of Vitamin B1, and B2 and a therapeutically or prophylactically effective amount of whey protein supplement.
Immunotec US PATENT U.S. Patent 5,290,571 A method of improving the immune response in mammals as measured by sheep red blood cells injection comprising administering orally to the mammal an undenatured whey protein concentrate obtained from bovine, goat, or sheep milk containing substantially all the heat labile whey protein present in the raw milk, the whey protein being present in an amount sufficient to provide an amount of from about 18 g to about 28 g of whey protein per 100 g of composition, Vitamin B1 in an amount of at least 1.5 mg per 100 grams of composition, the Vitamin B1 and Vitamin B2 being administered in amounts in excess of minimum daily requirements.
United States Patent Bounous et al. BIOLOGICALLY ACTIVE WHEY PROTEIN CONCENTRATE Inventors: Gustavo Bounous et al. Montreal, Canada Assignee: Immunotec Research Corporation, Montreal, Canada
Patent Number: 5,290,571 Date of Patent: Mar. 1, 1994 ABSTRACTS The present invention is concerned with a whey protein composition comprising a suitable concentration of whey protein concentrate wherein the whey protein concentrate contains proteins which are present in an essentially undenatured state and wherein the biological activity of the whey protein concentrate is dependent on the overall amino acid and small peptides pattern resulting from the contribution of all its proteins components and a method of producing said whey protein composition. The invention also relates to several applications of said composition.

U.S. Patent 5,456,924 A method of treating HIV-seropositive individuals so as to increase their blood mononuclear cell glutathione concentration and to maintain or increase body weight which comprises administering to HIV-seropositive individuals a substantially undenatured whey protein concentrate,
United States Patent Bounous et al. METHOD OF TREATMENT OF HIV-SEROPOSITIVE INDIVIDUALS WITH DIETARY WHEY PROTEINS Inventors: Gustavo Bounous et al. Montreal, Canada
wherein the substantially undenatured whey protein concentrate comprises substantially all the heat labile whey protein contained in raw milk, in an amount effective to increase their blood mononuclear cell glutathione concentration and maintain or increase body weight.
Patent Number: 5,456,924 Date of Patent: Oct. 10, 1995 ABSTRACTS Undenatured whey protein concentrate is administered to HIV-seropositive individuals to elevate their blood mononuclear cells, glutathione (GSH) level, body weight and sense of well being. In addition T-helper cells concentration and their T-helper cells/T-suppressor cells ratio are slightly elevated.

Immunotec CANADIAN PATENT Canadian Patent 1338682 A dietary supplement for a mammal comprising a substantially undenatured whey protein isolate mixture containing the bovine serum albumin, alpha-lactalbumin and lactoferrin proteins, which are cystine rich, said bovine serum albumin and lactoferrin also being rich in glutamyl cysteine, in an amount effective to replenish depleted cellular glutathione and enhance the immune response. A whey protein concentrate comprising cystine to act as a precursor for glutathione synthesis and including heat labile protein components providing an amino acid and associated small peptide pattern adapted significantly to enhance the bioavailabality of the
cysteine thereby raising cell glutathione content and improving humoral immune response. Use of a whey protein composition for improving the immune response in mammals, wherein the whey protein concentrate comprises a substantially undenatured whey protein isolate mixture which is cystine rich and rich in glutamyl cysteine, in an amount effective to replenish depleted cellular glutathione and enhance the immune response.
