THE REAL DEAL ABOUT THE FUTURE OF PARKDALE SCHOOL •
The Eastern School District says it wants to close Parkdale School to give our children more programs and learning opportunities. The problem is that their plan will give our children less programs and fewer opportunities.
•
The School Closure Report's recommendations about closing Parkdale are based on inaccurate information regarding school services offered, student enrolment numbers, area demographics and development trends.
•
PARKDALE SCHOOL IS A SCHOOL WORTH SAVING!
WHAT OUR CHILDREN WILL LOSE IF PARKDALE SCHOOL CLOSES •
If Parkdale School closes, the students will lose use of an award winning physical education program in a modern gymnasium built by taxpayers in 2002, at a cost of $1.3 million.
•
If Parkdale School closes, the students will lose use of three acres of green space, a new playground built by the community and a baseball diamond also used by the City of Charlottetown for recreation programs.
•
If Parkdale School closes, the students will lose use of a large, safe, off street parking lot for dropping off and picking up students.
•
If Parkdale School closes, the students will have less access to quality programs for music, art, French and special needs students.
•
If Parkdale School closes, the students will lose a school with the space and potential for future expansion.
WHAT YOU WILL LOSE IF PARKDALE SCHOOL CLOSES •
Your property values will go down without a school nearby.
•
Sales of homes will go down because homes in areas without quality schools are less appealing to new buyers, especially young families.
•
Use of school facilities by local citizens and community groups.
•
The ability to support future development in the area.
