Stonehenge is a World Heritage Site. It is a circle of stones that date back over 4000 years. It is one of the most visited monuments in England. At certain times of the year it is packed with tourists. Stonehenge is at its most beautiful at sunrise and sunset, but unfortunately it is not open to the public at these times. There are, however, magnificent views of the monument from the road that runs alongside. Stonehenge is working to expand the site and develop a visitor centre. To do this one road will need to be rerouted. The aim is to protect the landscape around the stones. In the region is Glastonbury. It hosts a large music event called the Glastonbury Festival. This event attracts thousands of visitors to the region. Before and after the festival many of its visitors go to see Stonehenge. Source: Image www.english-heritage.org.uk
