2 Section A : Directed Writing [35 marks] [Time suggested : 45 minutes] As the President of the Environmental Club, you have been asked by your teacher to give a speech to all students in your school on how they can help to reduce environmental problems. In your speech, include the following notes:
HOW TO REDUCE ENVIRONMENTAL PROBLEMS
Reduce energy usage
Reduce air pollution
Do not waste electricity
Avoid open burning
Use products that have timers Use energy saving appliances
Use unleaded petrol Practise car pooling
When writing your speech text, you should remember to: •
use the appropriate greeting and closing
•
state the purpose of the speech
•
use all the notes given
•
write in paragraphs
Reduce waste Use environmental friendly products Use recycled material Use washable items
3 Section B: Continuous Writing [50 marks] [Time suggested : One hour] Write a composition of about 350 words on one of the following topics. 1
A mother’s sacrifice.

The advantages and disadvantages of blogging.

Ways of preventing illegal motorcycle racing.

Write a story ending with :
