FACTS & HISTORY OF THE STATE OF VIRGINIA GOVERNORS Governors of Virginia Governors of Virginia serve a single four-year term as allowed by the Constitution of Virginia. A governor can be re-elected by popular vote again only after a break in service. Mills Godwin, Jr. achieved that feat most recently by serving from 1966-70 and again from 1974-78. Below is a listing of the Governors of Virginia. Love

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete. My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit -- fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. This is my command: Love each other. (John 15:9-17).

We now have 100 of these beautiful posters at the school to advertise our Christmas Fair. Please take a minute to review the poster and consider helping with the distribution of the posters. We need to spread the posters around our market area at businesses, grocery stores, cleaners - anywhere that lots of eyes will see. Thank you for all your contributions towards making this event a great success for the school.

So you want to be a participant for our First Annual Chili Cook-off! It’s Not Too Late! For a $35 entrance fee you can market your business or organization to the hundreds of shoppers that will be attending our annual Christmas Fair. Each participant will not only join in the good natured competition to cook the best chili, but will also have the opportunity to decorate their booth to attract and market to the numerous chili tasters. Pathway will be selling tickets for chili samples made by each participant. All samples will be distributed at the participant booths. Who should participate? Realtors, contractors, financial institutions, churches, youth groups, sports clubs, small businesses, law enforcement groups, fire departments, family, friends and adventurers. How does a Chili Cook-off work? What does it take to participate? The Cooks Rules, the registration form and the "official" rules can be picked up at the school Main Office receptionist desk. You will find that it is EASY participate and that it will be a very FUN event! Registration is still open for Pathway families and their businesses and groups. Please contact Jeanette Jones ([email protected]) or Andrea Muscatello ([email protected]) with any questions.

Pathway Christian Academy’s 5th  Annual Christmas Fair is just three  weeks away (Saturday, November 14, 2009).  There  are three ways you can help.      1.  We’re  inviting  you  to  start  your  holiday  baking  a  little early and donate your baked goods for our sale.   We  would  like  more  cakes  and  bread.    Those  were  quick sellers last year.       2. We are in need of new Christmas tins or decorative  plastic  containers  for our  cookie  and  candy  gift  cor‐ ner.     3. Sign up to help us in the pantry on the day of the  fair.  Most parents sign up to work 2‐hour shifts, but  even a 1‐hour shift is very helpful.     Last  year  we  had  a  lot  of  requests  for  recipes  and  thought perhaps this year we might sell some items  with the recipe attached.  If you would like to attach  a  recipe  to  your  baked  good,  please  feel  free  to  do  that!       We have discussed the possibility of creating a Path‐ way Pantry Christmas cookbook next year.  If you  would like to submit a favorite holiday recipe for the  cookbook, please email to:  [email protected]; or  [email protected].     Please stop by the reception desk and pick up a form  and  return  to  Pathway.    Thank  you  for  your  contin‐ ued  prayer  and  support  of  Pathway  Christian  Acad‐ emy.

The Tickets are Here! Your opportunity to sell Christmas Fair raffle tickets to support the school were sent home via backpack mail for K4-5th grades and US postal service mail for the upper grades on Friday. The prizes are GREAT! The cause is the BEST SCHOOL in the New River Valley!

Let’s Go Krogering!

I am writing to let you all know that we had a great success with the Applebee's fundraiser. I want to thank everyone who sold tickets, donated money, and donated their time and effort to make this a special event. I especially want to thank those who helped serve the breakfast Saturday morning: Kellan Locklin Kathy Haynes Katy Haynes Rosemarie Tamminen Christie Hudnall Kaylee Ruth Hall Jennifer Moles Mark Bordwine Tara Breeden If I happened to leave out anyone I ask for forgiveness. It was a fast paced morning but a fun one. We had a total of 284 people at the breakfast and took in a total of $2502.88. Not bad for serving pancakes for two hours! We do have some expenses that have yet to be taken out. I am estimating a total of $600.00 for expenses. These expenses include the cost of food and supplies to be reimbursed back to Applebee's, cost of printing the tickets, and a love offering to the four Applebee's employees that helped us. If everyone was able to see the amount of food and supplies we went through you would be amazed. Applebee's ran out of sausage, started serving bacon, went and got more sausage, ran out of sausage again, and started serving bacon again. Also I want to thank the Applebee's employees that made this a success. The two cooks in the kitchen were amazing to watch. I also want you to know the four employees donated their time to help out. Applebee's did not pay them. This is why, myself and the members of the board, felt that we needed to give them a small love offering. Also, I do recommend that if you get the chance to go out and eat, to choose Applebee's. John Clark, the general manager, was a great support and help and sees this as a strong relationship that we can do this on an annual basis. Thanks again for your help, your time, and your prayers. Most of all we thank God for His blessing on this event.
