PATTERN STITCH (Multiple of 3) Row 1 (RS): P1, k1, * p2, k1, rep from * across, end p1. Row 2: K1, p1, * k2, p1, rep from * across, end k1. Row 3: Knit. Row 4: Purl. Rep these 4 rows for Pat St.

SWEATER

BACK With smaller straight needles, cast on 102(110-122-130-142-150) sts. Ribbing: Row 1 (RS): K2, * p2, k2, rep from * across. Row 2: P2, * k2, p2, rep from * across. Rep these 2 rows until piece measures 3”, end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 20(20-21-21-22-23) sts evenly spaced across – 82(90-101-109-120-127) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 5” from beg, end on WS. Dec Row (RS): K1, k2 tog, k to last 3 sts, SSK, k1 – 80(88-99-107-118-125) sts. Rep this dec every 3 3/4” 4 times more – 72(80-91-99-110-117) sts. Work even until piece measures 21” from beg, end on WS. Shape Raglan Armholes: Bind off 3(4-5-6-7-9) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 66(72-81-87-96-99) sts. Establish Pat St: Dec Row (RS): K1, SSK, work Row 1 of Pat St to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 64(70-79-85-94-97) sts. Row 2: P2, work Row 2 of Pat St to last 2 sts, p2. Working in Pat St, continue to dec 1 st each side in this manner every RS row 5(10-18-22-30-32) times more, then every other RS row 11(9-5-4-0-0) times, end on WS – 32(32-33-33-34-33) sts. Bind off.

LEFT FRONT With smaller straight needles, cast on 46(50-54-58-62-70) sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 3”, end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 8(8-88-8-11) sts evenly spaced across – 38(42-46-50-54-59) sts. Work even in St st until piece measures 5” from beg, end on WS. Dec Row 1 (RS): K1, k2 tog, k to end – 37(41-45-49-53-58) sts. Rep this dec every 3 3/4” 3 times more – 34(38-42-46-50-55) sts. Work even until piece measures 19” from beg, end on WS. Shape V-Neck: Dec Row 2 (RS): K to last 2 sts, k2 tog – 33(37-41-45-49-54) sts. Rep this dec every 1” twice more. AT THE SAME TIME, when piece measures 20” from beg, work Dec Row 1 once more. When all decs have been completed and piece measures 21” from beg, end on WS – 30(34-38-42-46-51) sts. Shape Raglan Armhole: Bind off 3(4-5-6-7-9) sts, k to end – 27(30-33-36-39-42) sts. Purl 1 row. Establish Pat St: Dec Row (RS): K1, SSK, work Row 1 of Pat St across – 26(2932-35-38-41) sts.

Next Row: Work Row 2 of Pat St to last 2 sts, p2. Working in Pat St, continue to dec 1 st at armhole edge in this manner every RS row 5(10-18-22-30-32) times more, then every other RS row 11(9-5-4-0-0) times. AT THE SAME TIME, continue to dec 1 st at neck edge every other RS row 1(0-0-0-0-0) times, every 6th row 7(8-4-20-0) times, every 8th row 1(1-4-6-5-8) times then every 10th row 0(0-0-0-2-0) times. When all decs have been completed, fasten off last st.

RIGHT FRONT Work to correspond to left front, reversing all shaping. Work side decs at end of RS rows as SSK, k1. Work neck decs at beg of RS rows as SSK. Bind off for armhole on WS row. Work armhole decs at end of RS rows as k2 tog, k1.

SLEEVES With smaller straight needles, cast on 54 sts. Work in ribbing same as back for 6”, end on RS. Change to larger needles and p the next row, dec 14(13-14-13-13-13) sts evenly spaced across – 40(41-40-41-41-41) sts. Work in St st, inc 1 st each side every 2(1 1/2-1-1-3/4-3/4)” 7(9-12-14-15-17) times – 54(59-64-69-71-75) sts. Work even until sleeve measures 21” from beg, end on WS. Shape Raglan Cap: Bind off 3(4-5-6-7-9) sts at beg of the next 2 rows – 48(51-5457-57-57) sts. Establish Pat St: Dec Row (RS): K1, SSK, work Row 1 of Pat St to last 3 sts, k2 tog, k1 – 46(49-52-55-55-55) sts. Next Row: P2, work Row 2 of Pat St to last 2 sts, p2. Working in Pat St, continue to dec 1 st each side every RS row 7(10-12-14-14-12) times more, then every other RS row 10(9-8-8-8-10) times, end on WS – 12(11-12-11-11-11) sts. Bind off.

POCKETS (Make 2) With larger needles, cast on 22 sts. Work even in St st for 4”, end on RS. Change to smaller needles and p the next row, inc 4 sts evenly spaced across – 26 sts. Work even in ribbing same as back for 1 1/4”, end on WS. Bind off in ribbing.

FINISHING Sew raglan sleeve caps to raglan armholes. Sew side and sleeve seams, reversing seams over lower 3” of sleeve ribbing for foldback. Left Front/Neckband: With RS facing, using circular needle, beg at center back neck, pick up and k20 sts along back neck, 14 sts across top of sleeve, 64(68-68-72-

72-76) sts along left front neck edge, then 112 sts along left front edge – 210(214214-218-218-222) sts. Beg with Row 2, work in ribbing same as back for 1 1/2”, end on WS. Bind off in ribbing. Right Front/Neckband: With RS facing using circular needle, beg at lower left front edge, work to correspond to left front/neckband for ¾”, end on WS. Buttonhole Row (RS): Work 6 sts, bind off 3 sts, * work until there are 22 sts on needle after bound-off sts, bind off 3 sts, rep from * 3 times more, work to end. Next Row: Work in ribbing as established, cast on 3 sts over each group of sts bound off on previous row. Complete same as for left front/neckband. Sew edges of front/neckbands tog at center back neck. Pin pockets to fronts with cast-on edges of pockets 5 ½” up from cast-on edges of fronts, centering pockets over St st section of fronts. Sew 3 sides of pockets in place. Sew on buttons.

GAUGE 16 sts = 4” in Garter St on size 10 needles TO SAVE TIME, TAKE TIME TO CHECK GAUGE

With larger needles, cast on 72 sts. Work even in Garter St for 3”. Change to smaller needles. Dec Row: * K3 tog, rep from * across – 24 sts. Work even in Garter St until piece measures 45” from beg. Inc Row: * K in front, back, then front of next st, rep from * across – 72 sts. Change to larger needles and work even in St st until piece measures 48” from beg. Bind off.
