Application Problem

The Burke County Bears Baseball Team occasionally pops out. On game day, suppose the ball is 3.25 feet above the ground when a player hits straight up with an initial velocity of 80 feet per second. The function d(t)= -162 + 80t + 3.25 gives the balls height above the ground in feet (d) as a function of the time in seconds (t).

a) How long did the catcher have to get into position to catch the ball after it was hit? b) When did the ball reach its maximum height? c) What maximum height did the ball reach?
