Pride Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 29:23 A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Busting Tips Seeking God in prayer and fasting, can be an effective combat against pride, confessing your sins, weaknesses, and needs to God. Stay mindful of what God's grace has done in your life. To combat pride, it's healthy to reminisce on what God has done in your life, and where he has brought you from. This can be done by remaining thankful to God, sharing your testimony with others, meditating on scriptures about God's grace, and even meditating on spiritual songs such as - "Amazing Grace, How Sweet the Sound". Be grateful. Spend time in prayer and worship thanking God for what he has done in your life. Be grateful to others who have had a positive influence in your life. Honor and respect others. Stay aware of your weaknesses. Realize that there are weaknesses in your life, and only Christ's grace can make you strong. Keep yourselves accountable to someone else. Submit to those in authority in your life(pastor, employer, etc.) Develop mentoring relationships; they can help balance your perspective. Be open to godly advice. And be receptive to the gifts and ministry of other members in the body of Christ. Maintain a learning posture. Be a life long learner. Forget past accomplishments, and continue to seek the face of Christ. Remember the aim is to be transformed into the image of Christ. Focus on serving others. Be other-minded. Realize that the greatest is not the most intelligent, most gifted, most accomplished; rather, it is the one who serves. God has given you all things. He has given you resources, gifts, talents for His purpose, and His glory. You are nothing without Him.
