Our School

Our school. A. Our school is called Karjamaa Gymnasium. It is situated at Kopli, 92. It was built 45 years ago, in 1963. It is a 4 storeyed building made of grey bricks. In front of the school we have a football pitch, a yard and a small parking lot. There are a lot of trees around the building. 630 students learn in our school, 50 grown-ups work here: teachers, administrators, librarians, caretakers, cooks, a nurse, an IT manager, a secretary, repair men and others.

B. Karjamaa Gymnasium is a secondary school. Classes 1 to 4 are elementary, 5 to 9 – basic school, 10 to 12 – Gymnasium. In elementary school children learn reading, writing and counting. In basic school they have more subjects: geography, history, literature, natural science, languages, arts, computing and others. At the end of form 9 there are basic school exams and students get a certificate. In the Gymnasium students have mathematics, physics, chemistry, law and prepare for the State Exams at the end of Form 12. Students learn in 2 shifts: in the morning and in the afternoon. They have 5-7 lessons every day, between the lessons we have breaks, long and short. Saturday and Sunday are days off.

C. We have many well-equipped classrooms, a library, a gymnasium, a cloakroom, a doctor`s room. There are a lot of computers in our Gymnasium and we work in the system “electronic school”. We also have TV sets, cassette recorders, VCRs, overhead projectors. There are computer programs for learning English. We have our website in the Internet.
