Soaring To Success In 3rd Grade 2009-2010 Dear Parents, I am looking forward to working with you and your child this next school year. If you have any questions or concerns, please note my planning time each day. Feel free to contact me during that time. If for some reason, that time does not work with your schedule, please call so that we can set up another time to visit. Planning time Monday: 8:45-9:25 Tuesday: 12:45-1:25 Wednesday: 10:40-11:30 Thursday: 12:45-1:25 Friday: 12:45-1:25 Contact Numbers Cecil Floyd Elementary: 625-5320 Mrs. Woolever’s Cell: 317-1776 Water Bottles Students are encouraged to bring a “capped” water bottle to have with them during the day. Book Orders Students will be given book orders approximately once a month. Please make sure to write your checks to the book company. They will have one week to return their order forms. Grading Scale A = 90-100 B = 80-89 C = 70-79 D = 60-69 F = 59 and below Late Work Your child’s work is very important. Their daily work shows their understanding of class objectives. Late work will be accepted for half credit. Your child will always be required to complete late work before or during recess.

Each day, your child will be given work to do in class to demonstrate their skills and learning. They will normally be given plenty of time to complete their skill work in class. Each evening, they should only have “practice homework” if they have used their time wisely during the day. The practice homework is required Monday through Thursday, and includes: **20 minutes of reading (out loud reading to an adult is best);

*4 pkgs. wide-lined notebook paper *crayons *2 dozen pencils *markers *glue *scissors *2 boxes of Kleenex *5 pocket folders with brads, plastic, assorted colors *colored pencils *5 wide-lined spiral notebooks with holes *Vinyl binder, 1” white, view type *Index divider tabs, package of 5 *Pencil bag, nylon, to fit 3 ring binder *School box, plastic *hand sanitizer with pump, 8 oz. *headphones, adjustable, light weight **Please make sure that your child’s supplies are labeled before they bring them to school. If a certain item needs to be replaced during the school year, I will try to let you know in advance.

Monday Folder Students will be given a Monday Folder to take home each first day of the week, that will contain all of their work from the previous week. I would encourage you to look over your child’s work so that you will be aware of where your child is in the learning process. There will be a place for you to sign on the front of the folder and your child will need to return that empty
