What is Opec? Opec stands for “ Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries” Opec controls the oil supply. It keeps up the price of oil, but it doesn’t keep the price too high. Opec keeps the price of oil expensive, but not to expensive to the point where people will not purchase oil.
Interesting Facts about Opec. Opec Has been able to maintain its headquarters in Vienna since 1960. Opec is a cartel of twelve countries made up of Algeria, Angola, Ecuador, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Libya, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, and Venezuela.
