Old Testament Study Notes Genesis: Creation Account 6 Days 7th Rest 1:26 First account of the Trinity Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” This likeness is a distinct relationship between humans and God. Gen. 3 The Fall- the result of disobedience to God (sin) is death 3:15 The First Gospel, God already had a plan of salvation Gen. 6 Corruption and Cleansing (Noah and the Flood) Gen. 11 Tower of Babel (Human Pride produced God’s resistance) Gen. 12 Abraham Elected Covenant with two promises: Descendants become a great nation, and given the promise land (Canaan) Lineage of Abraham Abraham → Isaac → Jacob (Israel) → Twelve Sons (Twelve tribes) Exodus 1:9 The nation of Israel was too great, therefore made slaves Exodus 3:7-10 Deliverance to be fulfilled (Genesis 50:24-Joseph’s reminder) Use of the 10 plagues Exodus 12 The Passover, the blood of the spotless lamb put on the doorpost, was seen as a covering and the angel of death would PASSOVER This is a picture of the work Christ will do, however His work is final as He is the real spotless lamb with the blood that covers for eternity. Once out their disobedience (false gods and lack of faith) causes God to punish them- 40 years in desert but God’s dwells among them in the tabernacle. Leviticus: Directions for the Priests Laws to approach God (1-18) Laws to walk with God (18-27) Numbers: Book of Wanderings- the account of the nation while wandering for 40 years Deuteronomy: Laws for the people’s instruction How to live a life pleasing to God Moses’ farewell and death (couldn’t enter because of his disobedience) Joshua given the position to lead the nation into their land Joshua: Time to take what the Lord promised and gave them 3 major military campaigns Victory came through: Faith in God, Obedience to His Word Rather than numbers or military superiority God was faithful in fulfilling his promise of making Abraham a great nation and giving them the land He promised.
