Explain the importance of controlled research.

Anticipated Problem: Why must research be controlled? I. Research must be done in a controlled and precise manner a. Ensures that the results of the experiment are valid and reliable. b. Results in an experiment must be accountable. i. Accountable- the experiment has an independent variable, dependent variable, controlled extraneous variables, and constants. c. Extraneous variables i. Factors which may impact the effect on the dependent variable 1. Extraneous variables must be limited 2. If present in an uncontrolled manner, the results may not be accurate or repeatable. d. Controlled experiments must have constants i. conditions in an experiment that remain the same. ii.Control is the process of holding factors constant in an experiment
