CHEF Career Fair and Educational Half-Day Program For more information go to: http://www.chefchicago.org/opportunities/default.asp The Chicago Health Executives Forum (CHEF), in conjunction with the Healthcare Financial Management Association (HFMA) and National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) are proud to present the first annual CHEF Career Fair and Educational Half-Day Program. This career fair will bring together local employers from around the Chicago area to discuss career tracks, promote their organizations to job seekers, and recruit and educate the very best and brightest. Health care employers participating include: providers, payers, consulting firms, etc. In addition to a career fair, CHEF will kick-off the day with three health care experts discussing the changing field of health care: Dr. Thomas Dolan, Dr. Ogan Gurel, and Dr. John Kalaras. Dr. Thomas C. Dolan, Ph.D., FACHE, CAE President and CEO of the American College of Healthcare Executives Dr. Dolan’s keynote address is entitled: “Observations for Health Care Executives: A Catalyst for Conversation.” This presentation will include insight from Dr. Dolan’s 36 years in the field of health care and focus on his thoughts of current and future trends in health care and how it will impact your career. Thomas C. Dolan is president and Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Healthcare Executives, an international professional society of 30,000 healthcare executives who lead our nation’s hospitals, healthcare systems, and other healthcare organizations. With comprehensive programs in credentialing, education, career counseling, publications, and research, ACHE works toward its goal of being the premier professional society for healthcare leaders by providing exceptional value to its members. Dr. Ogan Gurel, MD, MPhil Chairman, Aesis Research Group, LLC and CEO, Duravest, Inc. Dr. Gurel – a noted speaker on the future of healthcare - will present on the field of medical nanotechnology and its implications for health care delivery. Dr. Gurel is Chairman of the Aesis Research Group - which provides comprehensive, forward-looking information and research services to the healthcare and life sciences sector – and CEO of Duravest, Inc. a publicly-traded holding company that develops next generation medical technologies. Previously, Dr. Gurel was Vice President and Medical Director at Sg2 -- a leading healthcare intelligence think-tank and consultancy serving hospitals and health systems. Dr. Gurel's business background also includes management consulting at Booz, Allen & Hamilton where he was engaged in a number of strategy projects for leading healthcare and life sciences clients. He has also served as an independent consultant to several medical device firms in which he was specifically involved with both European and FDA clinical trial development and oversight. Dr. Gurel has a Bachelor’s cum laude in Biochemical Sciences from Harvard, a Masters in Biochemistry and Molecular Biophysics from Columbia and his M.D. (alpha omega alpha) from the Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons. Dr. John Kalaras, Ph.D. Senior Professor and Senior Consultant, Quality Training Institute, Inc. and Ariston University Dr. Kalaras will speak about “Leadership Change and Ethics in the Work Place” and how it affects the health care executive. Dr. Kalaras, world renowned speaker, has helped to train over 3,000 executives in 25 countries throughout the world. He has written numerous articles and books on the topics of leadership and quality. For his work, Dr. Kalaras has been received numerous honors, including: Honorary Professor of the Year by Council of Europe/UNESCO; White House recognition on Academic Excellence; and the President’s Business Advisory Council.
