Tale of Desperaux Tale of Desperaux We have been reading this book in class and will finish it very soon! The movie for this book comes out Dec.19th. After Christmas I would like to have a “Family Movie Day” where we all go watch the movie together at the theater. This is not required, just for fun! More info will come soon.

Marine Collection This is the LAST week we are collecting items for soldiers that have recently been deployed to Iraq. They are part of the Bessemer Unit and are in need of certain items: Power Bars or other energy bars, Baby Wipes, Lotion, Sunscreen, Foot Powder, Chewing Gum, Handheld Games, Nerf Balls, Thick Socks, Telephone Cards, and Toothpaste.

Dad’s Locker Room The next meeting of the Deer Valley Dads Locker Room will be on December 4th at 6:30am sharp. Ms. Tawana will be preparing a full breakfast spread for us (eggs, sausage, pancakes, grits, and more) for just $3 per person, payable at the door. Reservations are required and must be in to me by November 20th!! Our guest speakers will be Superintendent Andy Craig and Assistant Superintendent Carol Bar-

What are we doing this week?

Reading We are learning that asking questions before, during, and after reading a book helps you become a better reader. Writing On Friday, students will bring home 2 booklets of published writing for you to enjoy: Fictional Narratives and Thanksgiving How To’s. Word Study This week we are beginning nouns and will continue learning about this when we come back from Thanksgiving break. Math All this week we are learning 5 addition strategies. On Friday, students will choose 2 strategies that they feel comfortable using. Social Studies Students are rotating to different classrooms and learning about Native Americans from different regions across the US.
