KNOW SOW GROW K-6 ENVIRONMENTAL ART WORKSHOP

K-6 Environmental Art Workshop The Visual Arts and Design Educators’ Association has arranged a number of artmaking workshops to assist K-6 teachers in their classroom delivery. The Environmental Art Workshop will present a range of approaches for classroom delivery. The workshop presenters have been selected on the basis of their extensive experience in the Senior and Primary classroom. The size of the workshop class is limited to 16 attendees to ensure an optimal educational experience. Resources such as programs, sample CD and specific work samples produced on the day will be given to attendees. The workshop has been designed to provide ‘hands on’ artmaking experience in a supportive environment that identifies the needs of K-6 teachers. The presenter will assist in guiding teachers to develop effective strategies and projects for curriculum implementation - Early Stage 1 – Stage 1 or Stage 2 Environmental Art Sculptural Forms Installation Digital Media – Microsoft PhotoDraw V2 .

Course Location Trinity Grammar School Junior Art Room 119 Prospect Road Summer Hill Course Date th Saturday 7 November 9.30am registration 9:45am – 4.00pm Course Price (incl GST) Members $110 Non-Member $167 The presenters for this course are:Ronnie Pratt. - Junior School Visual Arts teacher at Trinity Grammar School Summer Hill Campus. Ronnie is the K-6 officer for the VADEA organisation and has a wide range of teaching experiences in the UK, Africa and Australia with all age ranges from Infants to Senior School. She has also facilitated in-service days for teachers in schools and has worked as an artist in residence in a number of Queensland Schools. Vickie Kalocsay, SCEGGS Darlinghurst Primary School, Visual Arts Teacher Years 3-6. Vickie has extensive years of experience teaching Visual Arts in Secondary Schools and Primary Schools. Four years experience as Art Gallery of New South Wales Education Co-ordinator for Children's Programmes and K-6 Schools. She has presented many workshops for Primary School Teachers on ways to implement Visual Arts teaching in the K-6 Curriculum.

Digital photography and inquiry based research Artmaking – The natural world inquiry based learning. You will participate in a safari walking around the school grounds collecting natural objects. You will also use digital cameras to record images of texture and pattern. Artmaking – Sculptural Forms and Installations Using the internet and books you will investigate the world of environmental sculpture through the eyes of practising artists and engage in artmaking activities setting up and documenting installations in the space outside the classroom. You will also build your own sculptural forms using the found objects collected on the safari. Technology in the Classroom Using Microsoft PhotoDraw V2 you will experiment with drawing an image of your sculpture using the scribble tool and experiment with photo brushes, fill tools and background textures. Curriculum Implementation At the end of the day you will have an opportunity to develop Environmental artmaking ideas and strategies for implementation in your own programs
