From the Shepherd’s Shop‹ Shop‹ by Pastor Keith Felton What a fantastic couple of weeks at First Baptist Church! Palm/Circle-Up Sunday – Easter Pageant new members – new Christians – other commitments for Christ - Good Friday/Service of Shadows – Pancake Breakfast -Easter – 260+ in worship – Baby dedication – children’s Easter artwork displayed in our Sanctuary and in the Fine Arts Center on Monday. I want to say THANK YOU to all of you who have made Easter 2009 memorable and meaningful. I am honored to be your Pastor and to work with such a tremendous staff and congregation. I hope we can take advantage of this momentum we’ve experienced and continue doing great things for the Lord. The Psalmist sings, “Not to us, Not to us, Oh Lord, but to your Name be the glory, because of your love and faithfulness.” We are blessed to have John Woods as our Minister of Music. He always serves at a high level of excellence and has moved us forward in music and worship in the past four years. In a couple of Sundays from now (April 26), we will have the opportunity to participate in an Ordination service for John. After undergoing an examination from his Ordination Council made up of FBC members, John will now be presented to the church for Ordination. I hope you will make it a priority to be present for this special service. OUR QUARTERLY BUSINESS MEETING HAS BEEN MOVED TO APRIL 22. We are having a special guest come on April 29 (Rob Baker) and so the move needed to be made. This is a VERY IMPORTANT business meeting as we will be making decisions about a plan to ‘REVITALIZE’ our facilities. Several committees have already been involved in discussions concerning this plan. Our annual Deacon’s Retreat was spent dialoguing about this plan. Now we will have the opportunity to come together and make decisions about our future. I pray you will pray about these decisions and be there at our quarterly business meeting. One of the main elements of the Revitalization Plan aforementioned is a payment proposal that our Stewardship Committee is currently considering. If the plan is approved, I will be calling on each member of FBC to prayerfully consider a financial pledge to cover the costs of the First Phase of these vital improvements to our facilities over a period of twelve months.

Shepherd’s Shop (con’td) Obviously, the church will continue to need consistent tithes and offerings to take care of our ‘day-to-day’ budget needs. The pledge will therefore necessarily be an ‘above and beyond’ gift towards the Revitalization Plan. I realize these are tough fiscal times and this will be a sacrificial commitment; however, I believe God desires for us to make these commitments so we can improve our ministries and facilities for His glory and Kingdom service. Thank you for considering, praying, giving, and doing your best for our church and Lord. On Wednesday, April 29, at 6 P.M., Rob Baker, a missionary with SIL, will be at FBC to tell us about his work as an ethnodoxologist (someone who finds ways of adapting local music forms to communicate the Christian message) in French-speaking West Africa, where he has served for the past four years with his wife, Lois, and their three children: Madelaine, Ruth, and Micah. The Bakers’ home congregation is a Baptist church near London, England. Rob is extremely passionate about his work and loves sharing this passion with others, something he got to do a lot this summer when our Ben Griffin mentored with him in Benin and Togo! You won’t want to miss hearing about this truly unique and vital approach to missions in a diverse and musically saturated part of the world.

LOOK OUT!... Here They Come! Two months and counting!! We are well on our way of completing our fundraising endeavors for our Mission Trip to Managua, Nicaragua. Thank you for all the support that everyone has put into this ministry. We have a couple of fundraisers that are coming up that I would like to draw your attention to. There will be a community-wide yard sale this Saturday from 8am – 3pm along with a service auction of those that will be attending the mission trip. It will be held in the Youth and Family Life Center and I hope that you will stop by and check it out. This is also a great time to hire some help with those projects that you have been putting off this spring! Come and bring your checkbooks to bid on workers, then put us to work! Also the mission team will be holding a fundraising dinner on Wednesday April 29th. We will have a spaghetti dinner with all the extras! Donations given for the dinner will go toward helping raise the money required for our mission trip. Lastly don’t forget to get your paper a day early during the Wednesday night fellowship dinner for only a dollar! The youth t-shirts are in and we have them for sale during the Wednesday night dinners. We are asking $15 per shirt with all the proceeds going toward our mission trip. Thanks again for the support that you have given financially and prayerfully for our trip. God is working in a mighty and wonderful way through our membership here at FBC! See you Saturday at the yard sale!! In His Grip, Eric Coleman WEDNESDAY Night Meal April 22 Taco Casserole & trimmings

Our Sympathy and Prayers. Our love and support, sympathy and prayers go out to Lynn and Pam Pearce and family. Lynn’s grandmother went to be with Christ this past week. We join together as a family of faith and pray for this family as we celebrate Christ’s gift of eternal life.
