New to Nonprofits? An Overview Do you want to make a difference but are not sure how to start? Thinking of getting involved with a nonprofit, or even starting one yourself? Learn what it takes to manage an organization that has a powerful impact in your community. Successfully managing a nonprofit organization requires more than passion and hard work. Become familiar with the recently released Colorado Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence and how they relate to your organization. This is an introductory course designed to give a broad overview of the main aspects of managing your own nonprofit. Areas introduced in this training include: Colorado Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence How a nonprofit business differs from a for-profit Federal and state regulations regarding nonprofits Financial and legal responsibilities Nonprofit board governance Other nonprofit best practices Learn the essential tools you need to effectively move your organization forward and operate according to best practices in the State of Colorado. Directions: Traveling on I-76 take Exit 80. Turn and travel south into Fort Morgan. You will be on Main Street near McDonalds. Travel through your first stoplight (Riverview Avenue). At the second stoplight (7th Avenue) turn right. At the first intersection (Ensign Street) turn left. Christ Congregational Church is on your left. Turn into the parking lot. The training will be in the red brick Educational Building.
