No Experience Necessary 24 Hour Short Play Competition and Festival Step One: If they so desire, participants attend an optional 1 hour workshop on the basics of playwriting and proper formatting, in PAC 100, on the on the campus of Texas A&M University-Commerce, at 4:30 PM, Thursday, October 22, 2009. Step Two: After 5:00 PM, on Thursday, October 22, 2009, participants go to the Theatre Department website to obtain a prompt and instructions. A format sample will also be posted, for those unable to attend the workshop. Step Three: Participants write an 8-10 minute play, as suggested by the prompt. Step Four: Participants submit completed plays electronically to: [email protected] No later than 10:00 AM, Friday, October, 23, 2009. Jim Anderson is a professional playwright, Dramatist Guild member and teacher of playwriting. Mr. Anderson will distribute entries to rest of the selection committee, comprised of: Dr. John Hanners, Professor of Theatre, and award-winning playwright, Gary Burton, Professor of Theatre and awardwinning playwright. The committee will select up to 5 plays for production, and distribute the scripts to volunteer directors. Selected playwrights, will be notified, and invited to attend rehearsals. Step Five: Rehearsals begin at 3:00 PM. Step Six: 5:00 PM, Friday, October 23, 2009, doors open for the No Experience Necessary 24 Hour Short Play Festival. Step Seven: Audience members are invited to respond to the plays.
