ABSTRACT • LDR-Based automatic lights flicker due to change in light intensity. • The circuit will switch on the lamp instantly when the light intensity decreases below a preset level
INTRODUCTION • LDR-Based automatic lights flicker due to change in light intensity at dawn and dusk. • Compact fluorescent lamps are unsuitable in this circuit as flickering may damage the electronic circuits within these lamps. • The circuit switch on the lamp when light intensity decrease below preset level.
BLOCK DIAGRAM
BLOCK DESCRIPTION • SUNLIGHT SENSOR Light detecting sensor is resistance is inversely proportional to intensity of incident light. • SWITCHING CIRCUITS Use a popular timer ICNE555 to give a bistable action • TRIGGERING CIRCUIT Used to trigger the triac.
• TRIAC Used for alternating current. It conduct current in either direction when it is triggered. Does not have any polarity. • BULB Used as output indicator. • RECTIFIER Convert ac to dc. • FILTER Avoid ripples in the dc current • REGULATOR Used to regulate ac voltage from power supply

LDR has low resistance in day light. Output becomes zero. Resistance increase during sunset. Set flip-flop and output becomes high. TRIAC get fires bulb to glow. Zener diode is used for voltage regulation.

• It switch on the lamp instantly when the light intensity decreases. • We can use fluorescent lamp in this circuit. DISADVANTAGE
• Circuit carries 230V ac. So we cannot touch any point in the circuit when it is powered.

CONCLUSION Sunset lamp is used every where in our busy life. We don’t have much care about external security of house, buildings. So this lamp do an important role in security system. Many modifications can be made in circuit to make it more reliable and efficient.
