Night Vision I. Problem 1. Can covering your eye with an eye patch for a long time, then uncovering it help you see in the dark? 2. Will age affect these phenomena on a person? II. Hypothesis I think that if you cover the eye of a younger person longer, then the better he/she can see in the dark. III. Experimental Design Controlled Variable - Number of test subjects - Interval of 5 minutes Manipulated Variable - Age of the test subject - Length of the time the

was covered

Responding Variable - Eyesight in the dark IV. Materials 10 Volunteers (5 Adults, 5 Children) 10 Eye Patches 1 Dark Room 1. Table 1 cup 1 Deodorant 1 Pair of Scissors 1 P5.00 coin 1 Whiteboard Marker 1 Glass 1 Spoon 1 Fork 1 Saucer 1 Alcohol V. Procedures 1. Put the cup, deodorant, scissors, P5.00 coin, whiteboard marker, glass, spoon, fork, saucer and alcohol on the table. Then put it inside the dark room. 2. Inside the dark room, ask the volunteer to pick up the item that you will say. Record how many he or she got right and wrong. Do this to each one of the volunteer and it must be one after another. 3. After doing #2, cover the eye of the volunteer with the eye patch for 15 minutes. Allot an interval of 5 minutes in doing this to each of the volunteer. After 15 minutes switch the position of the eye patch so that the covered eye will be exposed then do the same procedure on #2. 4. After doing #3, switch the position of the eye patch and wait for 30 minutes before switching it again. Then do the same procedure on #2. 5. After doing #4, switch the position of the eye patch and wait for 45 minutes before switching it again. Then do the same procedure on #2.

Note: -The interval of 5 minutes to each of the volunteer must remain constant during the experiment. - In the absence of an eye patch, use an eye pad and do this.

VII. Conclusion 1. Young people have better eyesight in the dark when you cover their eye for a long period of time. 2. Covering the eye of an older person for a long period of time will give a possibility of reducing their vision in the dark.
