GOD NOTICES Read Esther 6:1--14 Never fails, does it? Things are not as they seem. And about the time you think they cannot get worse, they do. This was certainly true for Mordecai at a pivotal point in the story of Esther. When all seems lost, it isn't. Mordecai could have despaired at the situation in Persia. The king was a Gentile. He had no interest in the Jews. Furthermore his closest confidant was Haman, who shamelessly hated the Jews. Esther was in the palace, but when the king found out she was a Jew, her life might be over in an instant. When all seems lost, it isn't. When no one seems to notice, they do. Remember Mordecai's courageous decision earlier when he heard of a conspiracy between two of the doorkeepers of the palace, who were plotting to kill the king? When Mordecai heard of that conspiracy, he told his adopted daughter Esther about it. And she, being the queen, alerted the king. Esther had told the king that the information had come from Mordecai, yet no one ever rewarded him for his great act. It seemed as though no one noticed or remembered. So Mordecai went on living his life unnoticed, unrewarded, and unappreciated---until this pivotal night. I love the first three words of 6:1, "During that night." That's the way it is with God. At the eleventh hour, He steps in and does the unexpected. When no one seems to notice and no one seems to care, He notices and He cares "during that night." Learn a lesson from Mordecai today, will you? Through all that happens to him, Mordecai never becomes a man of vengeance. He never tries to get back at Haman, even when he has the opportunity, even when he has Haman in a very vulnerable spot. He doesn't kick him in the face when he has a chance to. He doesn't even speak against the man. Let me challenge you to guard your heart as Mordecai did. For God is not unjust so as to forget your work and the love which you have shown toward His name, in having ministered and in still ministering to the saints. (Hebrews 6:10) I love those words, "God is not unjust so as to forget." When no one else notices, mark it down, God notices. When no one else remembers, God records it so it won't be forgotten. NEW ADDITION The addition of rooms and BATHROOMS has been a welcomed sight at Christian View. Soon to be the site of a larger conference area, fellowship room, and the much needed bathrooms will be opened before the end of the year. We give thanks to God for the many blessings that allowed this dream to come to fruition. Trustee John Hairston, the chairman and building coordinator, oversees the construction. It is so good to be able to see the progress that has been made. We all look forward to the opening of the 1of 2

The Name The Hebrew word rophe means "heal, "cure," "restore," or "make whole." Shortly after his people left Egypt for the Promised Land, God revealed himself as Yahweh Rophe, "the LORD who heals." The Hebrew Scriptures indicate that God is the source of all healing. As you pray to Yahweh Rophe, ask him to search your heart. Take time to let him show you what it contains. If he uncovers any sin, ask for his forgiveness and then pray for healing. The New Testament reveals Jesus as the Great Physician, the healer of body and soul, whose miracles point to the kingdom of God. Key Scripture If you diligently heed the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in His sight, give ear to His commandments and keep all His statues, I will put none of the diseases on you which I have brought on the Egyptians. “For I am the LORD who heals you.” (Exodus 15:26 SUBMITTED 08/24/2008

PROTECTING OUR YOUTH KIDS' VACCINATIONS Before vaccines became widely available, diseases like measles, polio and whooping cough were common in childhood, and thousands died or were left blind, deaf or brain-damaged by them. Today, vaccines have totally or nearly eradicated several diseases such as smallpox, polio, diphtheria, and Hib infections, according to the national Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The cost of vaccines is a factor in low immunization rates. According to CDC, vaccines for one child in 1993 cost about $89 in the public sector and $213 in the private sector, in addition to administrative fees usually charged. Only half of health insurance plans cover childhood vaccines, though many public health departments offer them free or at a reduced fee based on income. REQUIRED VACCINATIONS • HIB- protect against Haemophilus influenzae type b • DTP- inoculation against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (Whopping Cough) • HEPATITIS B- viral disease transmitted through blood and body fluids. • POLIO-crippling viral disease transmitted through blood and body fluids • MMR VACCINE protects against MEASLES, MUMPS AND RUBELLA (GERMAN MEASLES)- MEASLES is a highly contagious disease that causes high fever, cough, and a spotty rash. MUMPS - causing painful, swollen salivary glands under the jaw, as well as fever and headache. RUBELLA - It's a mild disease in children, but rubella Retired Sister Drye endangers the fetus when a pregnant Registered Nurse woman catches • CHICKENPOX - is generally mild and not normally life-threatening,
