 Prior to 2006, Nepal was a kingdom.  Nepal is now a Federal Democratic Republic.

Radio is listened to throughout the kingdom; As of 2007, there are more than 55 Radio Stations MW , SW and FM local radio stations, Television was only introduced to Nepal in the 1980s Currently there are six National television channels: Nepal Television - the Government television channel.  Geography of Nepal is Uncommonly Diverse.  Nepal is of Roughly Trapezoidal Shape,

 880 km (550 mi) long and  240 km (130 mi) wide,  with an area of 147,181 square km (56,827 sq mi).  Nepal is basically divided into 3 physiographic areas:  The Mountain Region (15%)  Hilly Region (68%), and  Terai Regions (17%).
