My Trip

I will be sharing the most shocking and inspiring incidentthat happenedwitha team called King Fisher. The secret whichwas knownonly to very fewpeoplewill be shared withthe entire world. Stay glued for the most adventurousepisodeof my life! October 2nd week2005. After a long weekof training in AdvancedDSL Technology. The entire team thoughtto end the training witha sweetnote . They startedplanning for a trip on October 15th of 2005. The team members had several inputs, ideas and after hours of discussionsthe team finally decidedto go to

“meke daatu”

A thin line betweenlife and death! Everyonein the team were so excitedand all the arrangementswere done so fast whichimplies that everyonewanteda desperatebreak from the corporateworld and unwindin the laps of Nature.

Reasons for excitement: This is the first time whereall team members agreed to the date and place as a team.(Of course a lot of convincing was done to overcomethe cribbing of fewmembers).This was my first trip too after entering this corporatejungle. The training got over and everyonewere so happy and finally the day arrived. 15th of October 2005. The day were things unfoldedrapidly and excitementturned into spine chilling moments. Havea look at the smiling and laughing faces below,Poor chaps! They didn't knowthat destiny had somethingelse stored for them.

Finally everyonegot into the shuttleand music was played loud, some were busy peekingout of the window,fewwere reading newspapersome were on the phone. They decidedto get food packedfrom a famoushotel in JP nagar. UnfortunatelyI don t remember the name of the hotel, its a place wherefood is given in terms of Kilograms. its dedicatedfor bulk orders, the food was really delicious. more over it was a delightto watchhowthe food was weighedand packed. HoweverI remember its near ranga shankara, If u knowthe name of the hotel please let me know! On the way to mekedaatuthey pickedup an ex member of the same team, , after an hour of journey ,team got downat a beautifulplace to appreciatethe beautyof nature and fewmembers to attendthe nature call.

15th October 2005 10:42 am The shuttlefinally arrived on the banks of the river Cauvery after crossing some exotic locations. The river was so calm and a treat to watch. Checkthis out nature at its best! Wah!Kya Scene Hai!

The entire team finishedtheir breakfast(it was idly, chutney, kara bath and sihi bath ).

To see mekedaatuu need to land on the other side of the river using stateof the art and highly advanceduser friendly cruise line . I cant think of any more words to describeit , just sail throughthe belowpicturesyou will get the idea !

15th of October 2005 11:10 am All reachedthe other side of the river and had to waitfor an hour to catcha bus to reach the ultimatespot. So the team startedchilling around and startedexploring the greenery waiting for the bus driver and other visitors.

Nowlet me tell you aboutthe high tech fully air conditioneddoor free royal heritagebus whichtakes you to the spot. The journey whichis roughly around 2 kms will make you feel as if your on a roller coaster ride. You can sense each and every rock on the road. thanksto tourism department. The bus reminds me of the bus used in a fevicol ad . Checkthis snaps out! Havea joyful ride no strings attached!

The entire team after a thrilling ride reachedthe spot and everyonewas so happy and excitedto see the flowof water througha narrowpassage formed by rocks , It is just amazing and breathtaking Xp and the sound that generatesis better than any edge of a seat thriller. Its somethingthat cant be explainedusing adverbs /adjectives. Wishphotoscould capture the sound!

The team members relaxed for a whilesome wentinto the water and exhibitedtheir wetlooks,theteam finally decidedto leave the place and went towards the bus and got back to the other side of the river and reachedthe shuttle. So far so good,Theentire team was tired and all were very hungry so they decidedto eat on the way back to Bangalore. Howeverthey decided to see another place on the way back, it was very near to a dam and the name of the village, i really don t wantto mention that. 15th of October 2005 15:02 The team finished lunch and wentto the bottomof the valley to see a beautifulstream flowing. The guys wantedto sit on a rock in middle of the stream and wantedto chill out for fewhours. One of the team members wantedto exhibithis swimming talent, he got into the river and was taken by surprise by the flowof water as it was pulling him towards it , he lost the control and was shoutingfor help, it was really shocking and gives you a glimpseof wild nature of the stream. He was rescuedby one of the team members. The entire scenario was just a trailer for the upcoming blockbluster.

The entire team sat on a huge rock and was surroundedby the stream. After fewminutesthey startedobserving that there was a gradual rise in the level of water whichthe team took it lightly as time passed, the rise of water startedincreasing many rocks whichwere seen earlier were coveredunder the water , the visitors startedleaving from other rocks and startedmoving towards the bank of the stream. Nowlooking at the entire scene a sense of fear startedbuilding among the team members. The team starts building a human chain to cross the stream. Howeverthe strengthof the stream was giving them a good challenge, so the team then lookedfor another rock as the one they were sitting was disappearing, so they movedonto another rock and startedcalling for help. The villagers then informedthat the dam gates were openedand that was the reason the water level started increasing drastically,fewvillagers were trying to get ropes and were

searching for other options to get us from the middle of the stream. as time passed, fear,anxietywere directly proportional to water level. The team members startedcheckingtheir mobiles unfortunatelyall were out of network. Some villagers rushedback to the dam to requestthe authorityto get the gates of the dam closed for a while, mean whilethe newsspread like fire and villagers were looking at the team as if it was a reality showin the making. The team leader was trying his best to be very optimisticand assuring it wouldonly be a matter of fewhours. Time passed on waiting for rescue team howeverthere was no change in the level of water. That was the time everyonefelt the importanceof life no matter the adventof scienceand technology whenit comes against nature we are still peanuts! The sun startedwinding up for the day and withthe rise of darkness ,fear also startedbuilding up among the team members. Everyonein the team portrayeda positiveframe of mind and everyoneknowsdeep in their heart that somethingwas going on withthem whichthey never expected. The team members startedcracking jokes and a healthyrelationshipwas building up. This is the first time I have seen the positiveeffectsof fear.

15th of October 2005 19:22 As a ray of hope ,the level of water finally started decreasing and by that time the villagers and fewlife guards were getting ready to get us out from the rock to the bank of the river. The water was so cold and to add fuel to the fire the weatherhad a special effect, just whenthey decidedthat they will form the human chain supported withswimmers and getting ready to leave the rock, it startedraining. It didn't dampen their spirits, continuedto form the human chain and one by one crossed the stream and reachedto the other side of the stream and finally they were out of the danger zone. I felt something differentwhenmy feettouchedthe land it was a huge reliefafter all we came here to enjoy. They thankedthe villagers for their support and co-ordinationby arranging the necessary steps to get them out safely from the mouthof death. A special thanksto the life guards whowere a group of friends working in Accenturehad come to the same place. They got the permission to get the gates closed for a while. It just proves again humanitystill exists in this money orientedworld.

If the gates weren't openedthere could have been a huge loss in and around 10 villages. so the authorityhad no choice. The team didn't knowhowto thankthe villagers as money that they gave them was priceless whencompared to magnificentefforts of the villagers. Its only the heart felt thanks to those people. Not always an incidenthas to have a happy ending,it was nothing inspired from bollywood. The team had fewcasualtiesin this major incident. 1. Team leader's mobile(Nokia6600) was keptin a safetypouchalong withcamcorder howeverwater enteredonly the mobile keeping the camcorder working,it still remains as a mystery among the team mates. 2. Cap, broken goggles,watcheswere also part of this incident. The team got into the shuttleand everyonewas recovering from that breathtaking incidentand getting back to normal stage. Finally everyone called their respectivefamilies and informedthat they are on their way back to Bangalore.

Shashikanth:A nice guy! Currently working in Dell. Sriharsha(Shaz): A die-hard rock fan currently working in Dell. Mani: a hard worker,no idea abouthim. Rekha: The only girl whoused to pull the team together, currently staying in UnitedStates. Rudreshaka road rash!: our team SME currently doing a course in SAP. Muralidhar: The biggestflirt of the entire company! Asish: The ex member of the team, my mentor!Currently working in IBM. Sunil: The only guy whocan tell u jokes that u could never even imagine. Joby: The naughtyguy of the entire team! Abhiram(Alan): My favoriteL2 support technician,my well wisher,very talkative!

OOPS! I forgot aboutmy unit manager(one whotook the above snap) . KuNaL:A great manager, gives you completefreedom. He didn't even mind to tie all the shoes of the team mates to form a support systemto cross the stream. I miss u KuNaL!
