My River Journey ………………………………………………………………

At a young age I very much enjoyed art. I feel that I was quite spontaneous and creative especially with painting and drawing modes and visual art.

After continuing to study art as a subject in my senior years of schooling (years 10 – 11). I quickly became daunted by the strict genres and the theory behind the subject. This led me to over think the process and the artwork that I produced.

I was excited and enthusiastic to complete artworks in my free time and enter them in junior competitions and exhibitions As I over thought my art work and tried to please my art teacher by mimicking well known and respected artwork. I began to develop a creative block.

I also develop anxiety and a fear of being graded and judged which again influence the quality of the art that I produced.

My love of art continued to diminish over my senior years, and I ended up dropping the subject in year 12. As I haven’t been able to overcome my negative feeling towards art I have not practiced much art since finishing school in 2008
