My Project About
France

About France France is the largest country in Western Europe. France has a population of 64 Million people that live in the country. The main language spoken in France is French. France is bordered by Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany, Switzerland, Italy and Spain. The French flag is made of 3 colours, Blue, White and Red, as shown below.
The capital city of France is Paris. And Jacques Chirac is the current president on the French people. Mont Blanc is in the eastern regions of France, and is the largest mountain in the whole of Europe standing at 4807 meters high. In the winter people love to go skiing in the French skiing regions.
In the summer people like to goto the Pyrenees Mountain range. This is situated between France and Spain. There are also many beautiful beaches in the southern coast of France with the Mediterranean Sea. French children like to play with a toy called the BILBOQUET. This is a cup with a ball stuck with a string.
The most famous landmark in France is the wonderful Eiffel Tower. This was built in 1889 and was built for the celebration of the French Revolution. The Eiffel Tower was created by a man called Gustave Eiffel. It took 2 years and 2 months to build the tower. The Eiffel Tower stands at 324 meters high. The Eiffel Tower gets visited by over 200 million people every year.
Also in Paris is a very famous cathedral called the Notre Dame. A man called Victor Hugo wrote a story called the HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME. Building the Notre Dame began in 1163, and took nearly 200 years to complete the cathedral.
One of the most famous people in history from France is someone called NAPOLEON. Napoleon Bonaparte was the first emperor of France and this great general ruled France for 15 years. Napoleon was a masterful soldier and a great general. He was ruthless, a dictator and throughout his life he thought he could do no wrong.
France has a very big sporting culture. Some of these sporting events are• • • •
Football - The French Ligue and we cannot forget France being World Cup Champions in 1998. Cycling – The famous Tour De France, This is a race 2299 miles long. Tennis – The Roland Garros French Open held in May to June every year. Motor Racing – The famous 24 Hour Le Mans & the French Grand Prix
France is also very famous for making Cheese and Champagne.
