My eternal Devotion BY

EDNALYN LEBRINO

Have you seen a water puddle in the road? There is not the slightest stirring in it. The water is smooth and unruffled. The colors of nature reflected in it. However, it is not in peace, rather, in stagnant death!

It was I long time ago. When the greatest man on Earth, my father, died by suicide. When our small residential house caught by large fire in 1997. When my mother married again, unfortunately a bad person.

I was young then, problematic and stressful. My classmates were bullying me. My teacher in grade two, without mercy, hit my face knocking me down the floor. All I can do then was to cry, not because of the physical pain I received but the emotional and spiritual trauma it left in me. I began to curse the world. I began to search for the impossible. Many matters arisen from my psyche. No peace…no verdict… no life. I felt the darkness within me had

twisted my tiny soul. I begged the demon inside to stop from whispering rebellious thoughts.

My core was totally at unease. My heart started to explode. And in the midst of silence, I caught a glimpse of You.

You became my best friend. I am telling You all my anxieties, my feeling and failures. Though I cannot hear the answer from You directly, I know and I believe that You want me to be strong, to carry the burden of the world, yet gentle, enough to give comfort. You want me to be firm that will keep me going when everyone else in the family gives up. You want me to be susceptible, so I will know all Your signs that will notify me for either success or failure.

I felt special because of my direct relationship with You. All the time I pray, Your tame features registered in my psyche. The moment I see street children and wanderers, who are just satisfied eating putrid, it reminds me of You. I see You in them, yet, I see You within me. My entire life is spent with You. You love me, but hope, I love You more.

Remember the first contest I joined? It was the School’s Press Conference held when I was first year high school . I did not know anything about Sports Writing. Writing is not really my passion, but it is You that keeps me writing.

How about the ACSAT Interscholastic Competition, have You remembered it. I thought I and my teammates were not going to win. I was ill during that time of the contest proper. Besides, I was not able to memorize all the conversion factors, the equations used to compute for the distance of the projectile and the definition of the terminologies in Physics. However, You taught me how to learn all those things by heart. I have learned from You that cash prizes are not the greatest award I can achieved, but rather, the honor and pride that I can give to my school, to my family and to You.

I was not able to be an honor student during elementary. But then, You gave a me chance during my high school years to prove to myself and to the other people that I have these hidden potentials…potentials that are God-given.

I really cannot imagine myself vying for an honor. However, You made it possible. I made it to the top! I graduated as a Salutatorian. I also received those prestigious awards like National Discipline Award, the President ‘s Achievement award for Science and Technology and the Batang Leadership Award.

You know what? All those things are nothing compared to the happiness I felt the time when I received You, the moment You held my hand and promised me that I will be safe, and the time the You gave me spiritual strength and God’s peace.

Jesus Christ, You are the one who saved my life. Though I cannot touch You nor see You, I believed… and still believing , in the power of faith, that I had witnessed Your eternal glory and love to all men. I am blessed that You are always close to me, in all the things I have do, in all decisions I commit and in all the assist I gave to my fellow men. And in this moment I wrote this essay, I deemed that You want to send Your UNCONDITIONAL love to those person behind the Jesus Christ Ministry.

THE SALVATION OF THE LORD JESUS CHRIST HAS COME. MAY ALL OF US ASK FOR FORGIVENESS AND PRAY FOR HIS ETERNAL GLORY.

“YOU WILL RECEIVE POWER WHEN THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES UPON YOU AND THEN YOU WILL BE MY WITNESSES”
