Where ? Where ? The island of Murano is about 1km from city of Venice.
When? In the middle of Venetian Lagoon, Murano has become famous at the end of XIII century, when Venetian Republic ordered glassmakers to move their foundries to Murano.
What? Glass is product created from silicon mixtures (quartz, sand, sodium, iron, calcium, and more) sodium, iron, calcium, and more)
To create coloured glass, small quantities of metallic oxides are added: iron for green, cobalt for blue, colloidal gold or copper for red, tin for milky coloured glass.
Who? Glassmakers are skilled artisans
Glass production has not changed at all throughout the centuries.
