ABOUT MRTP ACT The MRTP ACT 1969, came into
existence on 1st June 1970. It is applicable to all over India except Jammu and Kashmir due to article 356.
OBJECTIVES To restrict the monopolies trade
activities and prevent of concentration of economic power in few hands. Control of monopolies, restrictive and unfair trade practices which are against the public interest.
SCOPE AND APPLICATION Applies to all companies which are
registered and operate in India under the company act 1956. Preventing unreasonable competition in the production of goods ,distribution and supply of goods. Prohibit unfair trade practises.
MRTP COMMISSION
PENALTIES A fine up to Rs 5000 and
imprisonment up to 6 months to 2 year on first instance. A fine up to Rs. 5000 and imprisonment up to 2 to 3 years on second instance.
