MOTION ___________________________________________________________________________________
Distance : Total length of the path along which an object has traveled in a given time period is known as distance traveled by a body or path length of the body. Displacement : Change in the position of a body in a given time period is known as displacement of the body. Scalar Quantity : The quantity, which requires only magnitude for complete desceiption is known as a scalar quantity. E.g. mass, volume, density, temperature, distance, time, speed, work etc. Vector Quantity : The quantity, which requires both magnitude as well as direction also, is known as vector quantity. E.g. displacement, velocity, acceleration, momentum, force etc. Speed : Distance traveled by a moving body in unit time is known as Speed. Average Speed : Ration of total distance traveled to total time taken is known as average speed. Constant Speed : If a body in motion travels equal distances in equal intervals of time, its speed in each interval of time remain same. Velocity: Displacement of a moving body in unit time is known as velocity or it is time rate of change of displacement. Average Velocity: The ratio of total displacement of a body to total time taken for the displacement is known as average velocity Constant Velocity: If velocity of a moving body remains constant with time it is said to be moving with constant velocity, Acceleration: Change in velocity of a body in motion in unit time is known as acceleration. In other words rate of change in velocity is known as acceleration. Constant Acceleration. If increase in velocity of a body performing motion in a definite direction along a straight line is uniform with time, accerelartion of the body is said to be constant., Motion of such body is known as uniformly accelerated motion.
