Monique Molina English Reading 310 Bertoglio Two articles:

Avian Flu

This article was about the Avian Flu, and how it spread to other passengers, mainly on airplanes. Doctors think that the flu is deadly, and is inherited from a bird’s disease. It causes pneumonia and a low-grade fever before it eventually leads to death. I don’t really agree with the article, for if it is inherited from a bird, it couldn’t spread person to person. I would think that one would have to come into contact with the animal. Secondly, I believe that one cannot get sick enough and die if they do not have a strong immune system. If their immune system is weak to begin with, a minor flu can become a deadly virus.

Huntington’s Disease This article was about Huntington’s Disease, which is a brain disease that doctors believe that a child inherits from their parents after their birth. Once Huntington’s spreads, it effects onesability to swallow, control movements, and to reason clearly. They say that the disease is unavoidable, and has no treatment or cure. Eventually, Huntington’s will kill the one who has inherited it. I think that it is possible to have a brain disease through genetics, but I do not always believe that a person can die at a young age from it. I believe that the mind is more powerful than the body, and if you do not think of it, and live your life the way you normally do, then things will be fine. Depression is bad for your health, worse than meat!
